Well, a slight diversion from your original question, but when I read it I remembered reading a while ago a bit of fuss about someone trying to trademark and/or copyright the term 'seo', and that leading to discussion on sphinn.com etc as to who originally coined the term. So I did a google search for "seo copyright" - and found that there are a disturbing number of people offering, and charging for seo services who don't know the difference between 'copyright' and 'copywrite'. That's worrying.
lol....nice one...but i really want to know who invented this...sometimes i feel that Google did it or else it would be out of market...i suppose
I'm also wondering who made this terminology? We all know that there is yahoo before the big G, does it means yahoo made it?
I've found some links about the attempt to trademark it, that have some background on the use of the term 'seach engine optimization" http://www.searchenginejournal.com/jason-gambert-new-low-in-the-seo-trademark-saga/6817/ There's a Timeline heading that looks at the use of it "July 26, 1997 - First verified use of the term “search engine optimization†as documented by Danny Sullivan was a spam message on a Usenet group and referred to as “search engine optimization service.†and here's a forum post by Danny Sullivan about the use of the term http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showpost.php?p=2119&postcount=10
Well, you know, you could read the stuff I've linked to, that's in the post above yours, that as I've already explained, provides a history of it. Or you could just not bother to read threads, and post dumb meaningless replies in them.
