What do you mean??? This processor is dam fast for a laptop. On my other laptop I have a Celeron 370 (1.5GHz) and it’s reasonably fast.

that is a pretty good price for a laptop. I wish I could get one like that but I would never use a laptop anyway.

that's a really nice deal, same computer from dell could cost 800.

however, the price will drop future more because of the new intel core processor

Do you live in China or Hong Kong? In Portugal a bottom range Celeron cost around 700 euros.

OD (Office Depot) had an awesome deal yesterday. I noticed it on slickdeals. I phoned my friend to get that laptop, but they were already sold (all of them in less than 24 hrs.)

    Core Duo processor laptop for $400. Beat that. :D :D :D :D

That is very cheap, the only problem is the small screen but for that price who gives a dam. :D

I think support is given by Acer Portugal not Office Centre, have you had problems with them before.

What exactly is rebate? Do you give your old pc in exchange like they do for the cellphones “mobiles”?

Actually the full name is mail in rebate.

Let say a computer is priced 1000. On the advertisment it said $600 after mail in rebate.

When you buy it, you have to pay $1000 dollar. They will give you a form to fill out and then you mail the form with the receipt to a given address. 8 - 10 weeks later you will get a $400 check so the final price will be 600.

The reason they give discount like this is

    1) they don't have to lower the listed price
    2) Mail may be lost in transit and ppl just give up on the rebate.
    3) ppl might just forget the rebate or didn't mail it out on time
