Dot5Hosting.com is ridiculous, first a bit background I had godaddy.com, only they got a complaint i was spamming emails, (which i was not, not one, never sent spam emails.) So godaddy is now holding my site hostage, they want $200 to give me back my PR1 Domain, whatever i cut my losses and left them. ran into Dot5Hosting they seemed professionals so i been with them for 4 months now, then i find my sites down, ALL OF THEM, they say one site myremote.org had received a complaint so they deactivated ALL my sites. myxxxx.org is a site that gets 0 traffic, i never use it for anything, so i know 100% they did not check into it, just someone (probably competition, complained , and they took all sites offline. So i erased myxxxx.org and imed them, here's our conversation: Scott Morris: Okay. Scott Morris: May I place you on hold for 2 to 3 minutes while I review your account? ME: yes Scott Morris: Thank you for holding. Scott Morris: ME, I have noticed that the ticket #xxxxx placed for the same issue is still open on our records. I can update that ticket and will request the specialist to active the account as soon as possible. However, you will be hearing from the specialist soon once the account gets activated. manuel: can you please hurry i need it can you activate just 1 site? ME: you guys really shouldnt do that, if 1 site is a problem block that 1 sit enot the entire account ME: i need xxxxx.com active Scott Morris: ME, per our policy, we strictly prohibit hosting teh malicious and hosting Web sites on our server. If we receiving complaints regarding this, we do suspend the entire account from our end. I can update teh ticket wit your request. ME: i wasnt hosting any malicious anything ME: it was a script i had i uploaded it to test it didnt like it and forgot about the site ME: who complained? ME: that site should get 0 traffic ME: ? Scott Morris: ME, I can update this information in the ticket will request the specialist to activate the account soon. MEl: how soon? MEl: i need it like in the next 10 min Scott Morris: It will take 24 - 48 hours to resolve your ticket. ME: that's ridiculous ME: i understand if it is a small bus. site ME: but that just cost me alot of money ME: all my ads are managed thoe that site ME: ads were cancelled and i cant change them!!!! ME: who complained about anything on myxxxxx.org? like i said that site gets 0 traffic had a script on it i did not use at all, that was it did you guys even check to see if the complaint was real or did you guys just deactivate my sites? Scott Morris: I'm sorry MEl. Unfortunately, it is not possible to provide you the information of the complaining party. ME: okay can is ee the evidence ?? ME: of a scan you ran? ME: of an infected computer? ME: of something? ME: i'm sorry im pissed this is costing my as of now over $100USD a day ME: are you going to pay for that? Scott Morris: I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. ME: inconvenience? i am losing over 100$ a day....thats abit more then an inconvenienc eplease show me some evidence that oyu guys didnt just take a complaint and closed my sites. Scott Morris: I will set high priority for the ticket and also will request to fix this issue soon. ME: that you actually ran a scan ME: wait... the ticket wasn't already a high priority?????? ME: look just show me a scan result that oyu guys ran, something to show me that infact you guys defend your customers and are not just another godaddy ME: ?? Scott Morris: ME, I will request the specialist to provide you the actions that they have followed for your Web site to resolve teh issue. ME: i was already told that i had to remove some files from myxxxxx.org so i erased the whole site ME: my question to you is ME: show me something that made you think that site had anything on it it shouldnt? i mean more then just a complaint? ME: something that you guys looked into it and not just deactivated my sites ME: thats exactly why i left godaddy they did that, i am giving you a chance to prove that you guys are a better hosting company then they are ME: please show me something that tells me that you guys did more then take someones word for it MEl: ?? Scott Morris: I can inform this to the specialists. You will be getting the complete information on the suspected contents that we have observed on the Web site soon in your e-mail address. ME: watever ME: what is your refund policy? ME: i just renew my hosting not to long ago ME: but i am going to be looking for another host to transfer my domains to Scott Morris: Okay. ME: when i find one what kind of refund can i get?> ME: bottom line i wasnt hosting anything of that matter, i know that 100% if it was deactivate that one site there is no point to deactivate all of them if one of them has a problemm ME: now im going to be out a few hundred dollars because of an error ME: k Scott Morris: ME, I have asked personally with one of our specialists and he is currently looking into your issue. Scott Morris: He will activate your account within 15 minutes. Scott Morris: However, the next renewal date of your hosting account is on xxxxxx. ME: okay ME: i dont plan on being with you guys much longer ME: if you could have personally asked someone you guys should have done that sooner ME: im sorry but having your sites down is a big deal MEl: especially when it is your source of income Scott Morris: I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. ME: once again apologizing isnt going to repay me for revue lost. i pay you guys for a service i expect it to be provided, it there is a problem with anything then i expect you guys, as professionals, to handle it rationally, and professionally, this was not handle rational nor professional. ME: this was something i did not expect form you guys maybe a smaller hosting company or godaddy. i am sorry but when i find a more reliable hos ti am changing Scott Morris: Manuel, as I told earlier your account will be activated within 15 minutes. However, please make sure to update your account password as well as the FTP account passwords once the account is activated. me: okay can i see some evidence that infact there was something hosted on that site that shouldnt have been? bottom line they suck, im thinking of changing to hostgator, anyone have any reviews for them???
were the sites hosted on one account? that would explain why one shutting down affected the others - and what was on myxxxx.org? hostgator is probably going to be more strict on what you host - haven't read many reviews on dot5hosting, but it sucks that you had to face bad experiences with them. And with GoDaddy - that is why i never register my domain with my host or get a host with my domain provider, losing one can affect the other. Good luck with everything, hope it turns out well at the end.
yes they were, but thats ridiculous myxxxx.com was an old domain i would use to try out scripts once in a while, the only thing on it was an old myspace layout site i was testing, virus, spyware everything free, that domain got 0 traffic. THAT IS SMART not reg. domain name with host, never thought of it, damn i feel stupid. good advice.
yeah I've learned from my mistakes in the past I try to pass that along to others. Good luck with it all, let me know if you need any help finding a good host for your sites.
I pm'd you, how many clients and junaweb u got? and do you own the servers i mean physically in your house/storage place, not in a data center>??? basically do you have physical ownership of server, and not rely on anyone else for anything??? I ask because in past my host went offline because data center server kept having problems, (that was outside his control). Basically i pay on time and as long as i do i want my sites to be up problem free, they use almost 0 bandwidth i only use 1 for ad distribution to my other sites (hosted offshore)
We own our own server but not in my house It is in a datacenter in San Jose, California - we may be moving it to a datacenter in San Francisco in the near future. We have control over the servers, but not the internet, meaning we can turn it on, off, open ports, reinstall OS, etc. on our own. This is not on a reseller if that's what you are asking As long as you pay on time and as long as you follow our TOS your sites will be up problem free. We do not allow any illegal sites (legal adult is allowed) and we do not allow proxies. And we allow no more than 250 outgoing emails an hour, it is to keep the server from overloading and to prevent users from sending spam emails. These are about the most important rules that we have. Others are miscellaneous but just as important. Let me know if you have any other questions.
^yeah exactly. If you get it free from your webhost just make some random thing or ask them if they can transfer the domain to your account.
if they give you a free domain then the best thing would be to try to transfer the domain out after a while, or just ask for a miscellaneous domain, never register your main/important domain even if it's for free
