While I tend to agree that every backlink is good, some better than others, particularly higher PR back links, how much does it hurt to have too many PR O back links, if at all. Is there an optimum ratio of PR0, PR1, PR2....... back links that google loves? PR0 -20% , PR1-20%, PR2 20%................... What if your PR 0's are 90% plus of your back links? - Problem/ No Problem? In regards to PR- If you have too many PR0 back links can that result in losing PR?, or not getting a higher PR? Conversely if Google sees too many, if that is even possible- high page rank backlinks- PR6, PR7 is that a red flag of some sort? Since most believe that quality is better than quantity would it be better to concentrate on only high PR backlinks and forget about PR0 and PR1 while focusing on PR2, 3,4.....? Gee, I sure ask a lot of questions?
Well as much as backlinks from high PR websites will give you a huge boost, backlinks from low PR sites will not necessarily hurt you. But, if you build a ton of backlinks very quickly from PR0 sites, Google will see that as Spammy and it will hurt you in the SERPs. You can continue to slowly build links from low PR sites if you want but I would try to concentrate on high PR quality links. That's why I use Linkvana which allows me to build an unlimited amount of links on PR3 and higher blogs which is really awesome. They are only taking 300 people but you can look at my sig for more info. Another way I like to get backlinks is to run some sort of a contest on my site and give away something for free. And people can enter the contest by putting a link from their site to yours. Depending on your niche this can work wonders.
I have/ read some really good things about linkvana. I wasn't aware that they only placed links on PR3 or above. I like the idea of a contest to get my backlinks by giving away something free. Great idea!!!!!
Always, concentrate on quality versus quantity A link from a pr8 gambling site to a website about baby diapers, wont do squat A single link from www diapersite.com (Pr3) to a website about baby diapers will give it a nice boost P.S Yes, LinkVana Rocks!
Make sure the link you are creating is dofollow, otherwise it does not give you any effect in google's eye. I would suggest higher PR compared to low pr sites. But, keep the numbers at moderate level. Any sudden increase might trigger spam alert.
Quality is main factor for BL, but get many PR0 links will give some PR to urs site if those ar not penalized or spam sites
symbol.software.. you got anything to back that up? i dont kno me self, i think especially if your using these link building sites like linkvana then they aint gonna help much, cos theyre charing too many links from the same domians... like a one i checked, had over 50 links coming from the same blog... can un say erm... link farm.... just cos its dressed like a blog, walks like a blog n talks like blog, doesnt mean its a blog... linkvana... linkfarma... peace
Hey richromo, the last thing that is gonna be a problem is too many links from high PR sites. That is a problem you want to have. Also spending a fair bit of energy trying to decipher Google is counterproductive. They love links and they especially love High PR links. They would favour variety in geographic and digital location. But stop worrying about the links and just start building them.
by PR 0 do you mean sites that have been banned? Or do you mean sites that have PR 0 in the pagerank toolbar? Because you should know that the 0 - 10 classification is just for display purposes. a PR 0 site will usually be something like PR 0.000000000017871 and a P% 5 might be PR 5.0345671
a pr 8 link from anything is going to help you. Or there'd be no benefit getting a link from the yahoo homepage unless you were another news site. What it WON'T do is help you rank for searches in your field. Unless of course someone searches for 'I lost so much money at the craps table I wish I'd worn diapers' or something similar. And btw - link exchanges are a very good way to get your site banned.
I've heard that about link exchanges, I'm just starting out so.... Would anybody suggest an easy way to get quality links?
quality+relative - why would I want a high pr link on a meat processing page if I'm selling fashion clothes? Do I want google to index me for meat?? I'm not sure what you meant by this
