Can you pay Google to be no. 1 on search pages?

There a couple of websites which are always on no. 1, 2 and 3 in google for certain keywords.
Do they pay for that or is it just very good SEO.

 

Just very good SEO, I mean, you'd have to pay them $1 million to make them even consider it, .

There would be no point in having search engines then.

 

I think you're pertaining about SERPs. You couldn't pay Google for being no. 1, but you can pay/join their sponsored listing or what they call it "PPC". You can be on the top.

Pay for a really good SEO Service, and they can probably get you up in the 1,2 or 3 spots depending on the keyword

 

no way. u can't get top rankings by paying to Google. had it been the case Google would have never achieved such success. see the condition of Yahoo! As far as your inquisitiveness about certain sites that always remain on top for certain keywords is concerned, either they apply best SEO or they don't apply it altogether. There are few brands who don't need SEO and are known by the whole world by either their business name of unique products eg. Microsoft. moreover, they get thousands of visitors everyday on their website which considerably increases their relevancy.

Geting good positon on SERP no need to pay just do proper SEO will get good position...May be pay fro SEO service to some free lancer or some SEo company.. also chance of paying some $ to buy links etcc.

Google doesn't entertain such kind of offers. Those websites are ranked on top positions due to their online reputation, popularity and so many other factors that Google strongly consider while awarding the rankings. Nothing to do with only SEO.

Today for each and every keyword(except few), Google lists wikipedia on top positions. Do you think wikipedia is ranked on top due to SEO efforts made on the website??

 

No, Google doesn't do this. In fact you can hire a Professional SEO Company and pay them to get higher ranks on Google SERP's. You can also jump to the topmost rank if the SEO company has some potential.
