It is worth it. In my opinion atleast. It depends on what you want to do, most webmasters can get by without ever knowing flash, but it has so many cool things you can do, especially if you learn actionscript. I am working on learning actionscript so I can make a few games and sell them to flash game sites.
this is true... learning flash is a positive thing if your into web design and action scripts. Look up "FLEX" adobe has some great things you can do with web design and its intergraded with other coding as well. Hope this helps...
As the people above said - you can do a lot with flash. If you are looking at starting a business of sorts then you will definitely want to learn it as people may want a flash website. Not only that, but it is quite easy to learn. Even most of the actionscript is pretty intuitive from what I remember.
For websites, flash has indeed gone out of style. But, independently, like for games and other applications, it's totally worth it. I've made thousands of dollars making flash games
Depends what your main focus is. If you are building web portals like magazine or new media layouts, or sites with a lot of content, then flash is not really worth it. If you are building sites that more Entertainment based, like fan pages, promotions in music or nightclubs, or games then its worth it. Is it going out of style? I think the full flash websites are going out of style, but its always a plus to have. I rather know it and not use it, than need it and not know it. If anything focus on the application aspect of Flash.
Sites with a bunch of content are not good with flash. You do not want users waiting for pages to load and such because of the flash. It all depends on the action you want the visitor to take.
Ya I would definately try to learn it if I were you for the commercial possibilities. Actionscript is very useful and can be profitable. People don't use a lot of flash these days in websites but its still used widely for all sorts of other stuff like gaming sites. All of the online casinos use it and all of the online game sites use it and the people who develop it make mad cash!
Flash has and never will out of style. Static and Flash have different purposes. If you want jobs and get better pay, learn Flash AS3 and Flex.
