Starting SEO

    Hi all

    I am pretty new to SEO and have aquired a site which gets about 2000 page views / day. I am intending to reskin the site and bring it up to date and then start SEO.

    I have spent quite a bit of time reading about SEO methods but am unsure about what are the most important things to do first.

    Site navigation
    Metatags
    link building (on going of course)
    Addition of a blog
    Article submissions

    etc etc

    Any help would be much appreciated

    Firstly make your website seo friendly.The first thing you have to do make site navigation so that Google bot crawl your site easily.Then write meta tags (Title,description,keywords).Then add blog to your site after finishing all these things properly start off page optimization like link building and article submission to promote your site in various search engine.

    Here is small answer for you small questions....
    Site navigation - Set navigation to be easy and mostly in text than in images.
    Metatags - Set metatags with a good count of your keywords inside and a attractive & understandable information about your site

    link building (on going of course) - Than go for link building. Blog writing and articles submission are the part of link building. Try major processes of link building like social bookmarking, directory submission, etc
    Addition of a blog - Sign up for a free blog account at blogger or wordpress and write there something informative about your site subject. Keep updating it in 2-3 days by new posts and add links to your website there.
    Article submissions - Get a list of free article submission directories available on net and submit a article written by you i.e. original one...

    Now, the best thing to do ,keep reading things around on net about SEO and learn as much as you can, best wishes

    start link building [the most dangerous process - if done incorrectly could cost you too much ].Be very careful with your anchor text.vary them and keep a list of those texts .use variants of them.

    Building links is a good thing to do at the beginning as well. Just don't overdo it or you might get penalized and stay away from link farms.
