Best Keyword Research Tools

I've been using the free part of Market Samurai for my keyword research, and it has some great usefulness, but they reserve the most robust parts of their tool for their paid membership.

I don't like to pay automatic ongoing monthly fees - especially for a tool that I would only use sporadically. That's the same reason I've stayed away from WordTracker.

Does anyone know of any good tools or systems that are comparable to these others, but that are free, or at a low one time cost?

Use the Google Keyword Tool. It works reasonably well.

Market Samurai is a one-time payment (no automatic ongoing monthly fees, no data costs... just pay once)

I use the AdWords Keyword Tool. Some people use the SEOBOOK's tool. You choose which one you like more.
