Hey hi guys, I wanna know what you guys think about this University vs IM kinda thing. Currently I am making so much that I am not able to pay attention to my studies anymore. I do love studies and I love to seek higher knowledge but my whole attention is into marketing I am not able to focus at studies at all.

Anyways my question is, how many of you HONESTLY think INTERNET will die soon and there will be no more websites and nothing. This is my stupid GFs thinking, she thinks Internet Business will not last long. But I keep telling her that Internet is still at its infancy compared to offline market and Internet is Growing at a rapid speed, and there are still tons of millionaires to be made.

It is the ultimate way to become rich over night. But leave the rich I already have a SICK site I don't care my point is, how many of you think INTERNET WILL DIE and I should keep studying.

I feel like dropping out because this semester I have such difficult projects and such tough mathematics class that unless I study few hours a day I will not pass and I really don't wanna waste my money paying the university..

    Please share your thoughts...

Seriously? The internet dying and going away? The internet cannot be "shut down" at this point.

I don't know how old you are, but it's never bad advice to stick in school. If nothing else, it's something to fall back on. Additional options are never a negative.

I did things backward. I worked way too many hours at blue collar jobs throughout my twenties. In my early thirties I started making money online. At 36 I completed my bachelor degree because I was able to go back to school since I no longer worked a "regular" job.

What will I do with my degree now? Nothing. I make my money online. But if I need something to fall back on it's there waiting.

I would personally finish your studies and do Internet Marketing when you have free time and such. Who knows what will happen and if things on the net will die and slow down or become even stronger.

I am 23, and doing 3rd year university.
I will nt back my words. Internet is not dying anytime soon. My gf has lost her mind studying all these years. I have made close to million in one year sitting in my chair chatting to people. F**K show me a job where you get paid to chat and laugh..
I think internet is still young and there is lots to be made..

Education is just another path, I may not drop but nothing comes close to internet for me I have seen its power, if you have ideas and know how to execute it, you make money and not just small cash, you make huge cash..

I've had this (or a very similar) discussion with several people in the past. The way I always look at decisions like this is: which decision is more likely to leave you seriously regretting it afterwards? Can you really imagine a future scenario in which you're cursing yourself for having finished off your degree?

I don't want to suggest for a moment that anything adverse is suddenly going to happen to the internet, or to your IM income. But I don't think you need any of that to hold any validity to make it right to continue and graduate, anyway.

I'm in my second year of university at the moment. During term-time, the number of hours I can work online (I happen to be a forex trader but that doesn't matter to my point: it could just as easily be IM that's paying me) is severely restricted. During the university holidays, I can easily get in 4 (sometimes 5) days per week of online work. So in that sense of opportunity-cost, continuing my studies is "costing me a fortune" but I don't actually think of it that way at all. I have absolutely no intention of dropping out - wouldn't dream of it.

Good luck to you, whatever you decide!

I think you should finish your studies. Internet marketing is like any other business, there are up and downs. Many things can affect the future. Government regulations could come into play at some point, the bigger companies could start pushing out the little guy, the competition could become too stiff, and many other factors could happen. There has been tons of changes in the last couple of years with people from various countries taking away money making opportunity by working for pennies. This could get worse.

A degree will always be there as a back up for a job in the regular world of you need it.

If this is how you think then you must be borderline-retarded.

I'd stay in school and get the education while working on your sites... it's all about time management. I currently do both along with a massive number of other activities (sports, clubs, academic research, and of course a social life), so it's nowhere near impossible.

The internet may never go away, but your sites may fail. It's always good to have an education as a backup. At least if you are making money you don't have to worry about the financial aspects of university.

You would be crazy to leave uni in my opinion.

Although the internet will not die, your income could at any time which is why i think it would be better to stay at uni so you can have a guaranteed future income.

These are thoughts, internet is not going down. Technology will never go backwards, and Internet is the backbone in there, so much stuff to come..

I may not drop but I will not agree with anyone who tells me IM is BS and Internet is dying.

Duh man, they work their ass off and they have to go through years of stuff and it requires some talent.

Nothing comes close to internet marketing.

Internet marketing requires actions, I am doing this since 1995. When I was about 10-11 years old. My poor dad always told me SON GO STUDY, SON GO STUDY, SON GO STUDY. SON INTERNET IS SCAM. Had he given me his credit card and I had bought 10-20 generic domains. I would have been in silicon valley with big guys..

Nor should you. The Internet will only get bigger. This of course could be a double edge sword. As you see in many Industrialized nations, the bigger the economy gets, the more the little guy gets crushed by the larger more powerful companies.

Governments have already been sniffing at the Internet and it will not be long before one of them starts regulating and things will snowball. Always best to hedge you future with all options.

I bet the list of people who didn't complete university and went bankrupt from an unsuccessful business is much larger.

Complete the formal education and side by side continue your internet marketing. It is better to have a degree when you are young and willing to learn rather than repent later. It may help you at a later stage. Who knows?

in my opinion the best way would be to reduce the internet marketing or to employ somebody. So you could concentrate more on your studies.
But i don't think that the internet will die within a short period of time (50 years)

Think of it this way, most people study in university for a bachelor, master or even phd for the sake of getting a higher paying job when they are done. Though some people, like you, attend for the sake of learning. You have to decide which is more important. Still, you should automate what you are earning online right now so you have time for school.

And since when is studying a few hours a day unusual? If you don't study you won't get good grades, unless you are one of those genius that don't need to study but looks like you are not one of them (judging from the way you wrote it)
