2 backlinks PR0 but #1 HOW?

Can anyone tell me how a site with only 2 backlinks and a Page Rank of 0 be #1 in Google, when I have over 9,000 relevant backlinks and PR4 for the same keyword (in position 6)
We both have the keyword in our domains...but there domain is older. How can I get around this or get this spot?

Older domains get a lot of trust and credit in the eyes of google. Is there domain name the exact keyphrase?

Older domains tends to get more prioritization from Google. you could beat them if you keep on building you site.

They may also have a lot more pages of relevant content indexed for that keyphrase than you do.

it's the domain name. i've discovered that if there is a (usually .com) domain matching your exact phrase, google will put it first. i THINK this is because google likes to pick out sites that it thinks are OFFICIAL (i.e a bran, company name, an artist etc etc)

also, if you search PC enclosure (without the S on the end), you are number 4 and your competitor is nowhere to be seen

Well, in addition to the matter of domain age as everyone has already mentioned, something else comes to my mind and that is about the links. Some web pages might be crawled and indexed by Google and not Yahoo as I have seen such a thing many times and naturally, such pages links can only be seen through Google Webmaster Tools.

An older domain should get proiorty but why when a site has got higher PR and a higher amount of inbound quality links should an older domain out rank it?

    Geester1,

Been there done that trying to get #1 for Florida Bass Fishing (see my sig for url). It's about a year and a half old and took me about 9 months to overtake an old domain that was about 7 years old. As Chancey says, keep your link building going and what really helped me was getting related links from a related subniche.

Your competitors site does have 2 pretty strong links:

    www.engineeringtalk.com - PR6
    www.zibb.com - PR7

Don't give up you'll get there especially if your competitor is not promoting his site. ;)

One reason is older domain the other reason may be the site structure design and content on his site. The site of your competitor may be more seo friendly and may be also the content is more relevant as compared to your site.

Hmmmm, try searching for "computers" or "cell Phones" , I don't see the top 7 having it in their domain names. There are other things that make a site rank better in SERP besides domain names.

I agree domain name match helps but he or she can do other things to overtake the competitor.

    LOL
    This is trustrank
It is the age of the backlinks not always their quantity. There is a threshold to cross in terms of the TR. You need QUALITY links which will reduce the link co efficent. DMOZ etc even if there is no green this wil slide you over the bump.
Failing that you need a suicide domain.

Agree with Valley on this one. DMOZ will get you over the line every time.
