How would one go about displaying "popular" entries like Digg does on their front page? I would think the easiest way would be to query the entries with the most "votes" within a time period (say 24hrs), but there is definitely more to this than just that. Any ideas?
It doesn't work though! The diggs have to be within a stipulated time frame. It's possible that they measure diggs/hr and then compare it against the other articles in the same category. I have seen articles on the home page with as few as 25 diggs, but the articles have only been a few minutes old. So, round up a few of your friends around the globe. Set-up a story and call them all up and ask them to digg the story immediately! Alternatively, digg a good story so people actually digg it themselves instead of trying to beat the system!
