Alternative control panels? controlzx?

    Hi,

    I have a "spare" server I am looking to try something different. Does anyone have some suggestions? I have been looking at controlzx, it looks really interesting but nobody ever talks about it, has any one used it?

    Are there any others that I should be looking at?

    Please do not mention cPanel, Direct Admin or Plesk... I understand these are great control panels, I am looking for something different ;)

    havent tried controlzx.....but have tried webmin and it was very pleased with it. And i belive it is free if i am not mistaken.

    I have tried webmin (long ago), very fast, but not always cooperative from what I remember, I am sure I verbally abused my monitor a few times... I may give it another go though.

    Have you taken a look at LxAdmin? I've heard good things and it has a very low memory footprint. I've never personally tried it though :)

    I am very tempted by VHCS but I don't think it is even supported anymore... is it?

    LXAdmin I used briefly, it looks like they are making an effort to get into the "end user" market which may encourage them to update the interface.... it's the ugliest thing I have ever used, reminded me of an early flash site.

    Zpanel? ISPConfig?

    I think VHCS is coming out as nother name, not sure though.

    VHCS looked really good, but seems to be dead. I went searching for alternate CPs the other day, and I came acrossed this one,interworx.com, looks pretty good but a little spendy, Monthly $24.95

    I can relate to your webmin experience, but it has improved in the last year. I'd give it another try if it's been a while since you last used it.

    But, I've also heard some good things about ispconfig, though I've never ran it.

    Direct admin is pritty good. You can run it on a VPS with 64 MB of ram and it will still work. ( 128 MB of ram is much better )
