From since long time people have noticed that although dmoz directory seems to have more editors, but actually thats not the correct. I think so that as some members may not be very active and since any one editor cannot work for another editors category the workload for classifying the website goes on and on.. also some person has made in improper submission in wrong category then there are very chances to get listed....right? What you all people think of this?
Not sure I am following this correctly but from the subject it appears that ODP Monthly Report-May 2006 provides the details you need. As for No editor owns any category so any number of editors can and do work in categories where other editors work or are named. It would seem that perhaps english isn't your 1st language so I apologize in advance if I mis-interpreted the thread.
Reading the report you can calculate that in May 2006, the ODP lost 171 active editors. (new, 343, reinstated, 229, dropped 743).
I put the number of active editors at about 500 which is the combination of senior editors + flow of the new editors who has not been disillusioned yet. Most likely more than 90% of edits are done by less than 5% of all editors. What do you think?
Looks can be deceiving I often find categories which I maintain getting edited by senior editor, its a weird filling when I'm trying to figure out how did that site appear when I'm certain I didn't add it. In my opinion problem is too few middle level editors so there is big gap between person who have few small categories and senior editors (and some of them are getting tired after over 20 000 edits!) i.e. there are lots of grunts but not enough generals to guide them all - we could use few good drill sergeants.
