yes, if it is a dofolow forum and IF the search engine bots index the page and follow your link, then it would be a backlink. however, such links have very little value. you dont have to start a thread for a backlink, you can reply to a post and that will do the same as long as you have signature on your profile
Also, don't bother making multiple posts in an effort to get multiple backlinks, if you are lucky enough to get any link juice from your link, it will only be once per domain
Yes, it's considered a backlink because that's what a backlink is. However keep this in mind: Only backlinks on pages indexed by Google will help you! Backlinks on pages not indexed by the search engines are completely useless for SEO (could only bring traffic).
I thought the links in within the signatures here were dofollow. I know a guy that makes posts here regularly and nearly all of his backlinks are from DP and he he has a first page spot in Google. Brandon
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=what's+dofollow http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=what's+nofollow Just search for the page's URL in Google. If you find it - the page is indexed. Otherwise it's not. You should start from here: http://www.seomoz.org/article/beginners-guide-to-search-engine-optimization
Check the source code of the page and look for the nofollow attribute in a link. If you were to check the homepage of my profile, you'd find a no follow link in the source code.
Anyone know any threads or sites that can introduce me the basics of page indexing? What all the terms means, what i need to do, ect. and check what pages are backlinks to my site?
Nofollow links still are counted and regarded as backlinks. This is the reason why you can see such links in your Google Webmaster Tools section. The Nofollow attribute blocks the passage of PR to the websites. So Nofollow links are great and can help with your rankings but they would never help with increasing your site's PR value.
It is a backlink with very little value. However, if you can find a way to post in many forums then you will have a good boost in Google and other se. Also, dont forget the anchor text.
Page Indexing- when the page is in Google's index. If you do a site:yoursite.com query, you will see the number of pages indexed. For backlinks, use Yahoo Site Explorer or any tool like Backlinkwatch. You could also do a link:yoursite.com search.
