Man this blows the big one, it just wouldn't start up, would hang and nothing would happen. Then the freaking PSU blew!!!! I'm hoping that's the only thing that got fried. Freaking generic ass cheap piece of crap PSUs, this is the second one to go out on me....ARGH Anyone have any recommendations for a reliable PSU? How many watts? If that doesn't work I may just get a new comp.... how does this one look? http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pr...4D0736749999D&sku_id=0665000FS10072976&catid= I need it like...tommorow though that's the problem
How much will that run me? What are the brand names of PSUs? I don't really need it for gaming, the computer is just a work horse
bah I dont care about brand names just as long as there is a good warrante and that the PSU is at least 450 Watts. Just make sure not to go cheap. one thing i learned. ex. 50x cd rom 20$ 40x cd rom 35$ I bought the 20$ and within a month it couldnt read any disc not even bought music cds ! always buy the more expensive. You get what you pay for.

Yeah im gonna get something between 450 and 500, hopefully by antec, they seem pretty popular. the thing is i need it now you know?
I feel your pain Less than a month ago I walked into the office and smelled something like burnt toast-it seemed to be coming from under my desk. Sure enough, the PSU cooling fan in my PC died, and smoke was coming out the back of it It was a relatively new, locally built PC. When I opened the case the power supply was so hot that the wiring harness had actually started to melt. Once I got it removed I saw that it was one of those ultra cheapo Chinese rigs with teeny, tiny internal heat-sinks that weigh next to nothing. It went into the trash and a new 430watt Antec was installed in it's place. My home PCs and fileserver all run either Antecs or PCPowerCooling PSUs. While even the cheapo PSUs usually have a warranty you really can't put a price on time and/or data lost after a failure. With my luck the CD from my daily backup would be freaking defective or something, so I try to install the best hardware that I can justify. It only costs a few extra bucks to have a quality component versus a cheap one, as you know. As far as brands go, I've had very good luck with the following: PCPowerCooling (pricey, but very solidly built) Antec (Made by FoxConn I think) Sparkle Enermax Edited to add: My spare 430 watt Antec has an MTBF of 80,000 hours according to the box. That's just over nine years!
Yep I think I have an Antec ya well look for somewhere that will do overnight shipping. or TO is full of PC stores !! Go to the huge one on Dixie Rd in missisauga. Right down the road from the delta airport west.
