    * Switch from underscores to hyphens to separate words in the URLs
    * Employ the H1 tag for page headlines
    * Use H2s and H3s for subheadlines
    * Use the keyword you're targeting on the page in bold/strong at least once
    * Change your internal links to contain the anchor text you're targeting on the page
    * Move the keywords to the front of the title tag
    * Reduce the code to content ratio
    * Apply relevant alt tags to images & photos
    * Nofollow links to pages like login, register and legal disclosures

    Those are pretty much the fundamentals of on-page SEO, so you might consider them "little things" but actually they are your foundation for getting high on the SERPs. Would NEVER recommend overlooking these things ;)

    Yeah, i would say that these are pretty major points rather than minor but all good and essential :)

    One thing that we often hear banded around is that meta keyword tags are a waste of time as google doesn't consider them any more. As far as i understand, although meta keyword tags no longer carry the same importance that they may have in the past, they do still count. So the way i see it, even if the Meta Keywords account for 0.1% of the overall page score in the Google algo, that 0.1% might be all that separates your site from the nearest competitors site.

    So in a nutshell, even things that are considered minor could still make a difference to the overall position of your site in the SERPS. Tweaking 3 or 4 minor issues could make a big difference.

    nofollow can be used to contain and direct PR to the power pages of your site. Some believe that this is a good technique while others will disagree. By using nofollow on links to pages like the 'about us' 'Contact us' etc, you prevent the sites PR power bleeding out to "non performing" pages helping to keep the Page Rank to the core pages therefore helping these pages in the SERPS.

    Hope that makes sense. :)
