Is there any way I can get an user's IP upon request? I only ask this because I want to file a police report of some sort for someone not only taking $200 out of me, but for going under multiple alias (as in identity theft (sorry am on my phone so am not sure if I spelt it wrong). The IP he registered with or posts on threads with might narrow down where he is and I can start my search from there.

Haha, go you! Well, I think I narrowed it down without the IP. I'd like to see if it matches up though. Why would an IP be a policy thing though? I mean, we as an admin of any site have the ability to see our visitor's IP?

By the way, I've been posting on my iPhone all morning. :D.

as campolar said youll never get it by asking, it would be a breach of most websites privacy policies a court order is the way to go, alltough its unlikely its going to be his real ip even if you did get it via court order. As he his likely using proxies, unless hes extremely stupid, if he's operating under multiple accounts inform a moderator http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showgroups.php? and include any evidence to support you claim, as dupe/multiple accounts is against the rules.

If dp refused to obey the court order they would be breaking the law themselves, the courts wont ask dp to change their policy, just force them to hand over the users IP adress. Also if this is identity theft this is something which you should report to the authorities, the FBI in your case.

Check the refferals, might have his ip there if he clicked your sig link it should be logged somewhere as to where he came from. may help narrow it down

Will do, just found all the IPs that have looked at my site last month. I'll have a look some more when I get back from class.
