Blog Commenting is not used as often as it should be

    BLOG COMMENTING

Yes, we have all done it sometime in our life. Whether it be leaving a simple thank you message for writing a great post, or leaving a constructive comment which sparks a debate of replies on the subject. But do many of us use it for traffic? The answer is no.

    Getting Traffic From Blog Commenting
First of all you need to scout out the prominent blogs in your niche/industry and record them down. Order it so you have a list from the best to worst blogs (the best being first).

These are the blogs you need to concentrate on being the first person to comment on.

    Why the first person?
Being the first person to comment on a blog means your comment will most likely be the first that people reading the post see. If you write a briliant comment then it is likely that someone reading the post will click on your link and visit your site. If it is a popular blog, and you have written a really good comment then you could get a heap of traffic!

Being one of the first posters is a tough job, but it certainly does pay off.

I think commenting is used a fair bit for building traffic but I do agree people could be doing more - but I guess that is their choice.

Being first to comment on a popular blog could get your 20-50 uniques!

It's definitely over used and over rated, and deleted more often than approved .... it makes me laugh and kind of frown that people are still using these primitive methods - when it's clear that Google is frowning upon such activities ....

I'm pretty sure that blog commenting is used as one of the main link building strategies out there... don't know where you've been.

I dont think it is over rated at all. SPAM comments are overrated, but quality comments that add value to a post are an incredibly effective way to rank well in the search engines.

I have frequently used this strategy to get me countless top5 positions on google within the first week.

I'm not talking about spam comments lol. I hope if you do use blog commenting for traffic that you do write quality comments and not some spam comments. Besides people will just ignore comments which dont provide much value.

I have frequently wrote posts and within 5 minutes they are within the top 5 results in Google .... it's about the quality of your site / url and not the quality of links incoming ....

Commenting on blogs only helps one person and that's the blog owner .... you'd be better off commenting on your own blogs .... at least that way you are adding content to your blog ....

Commenting on blogs are win-win. The blog owner gets quality conversation and content in exchange for a backlink to the posters blog.

But remember blog comments shouldn't be your only backlinking technique. It's just part of a good plan.

I built a financial blog that got almost all of its traffic through commenting on other blogs in my niche. People followed my link, liked the blog, subscribed, mentioned me on their own blog, and within a month I had hundreds of feed subscribers from just that simple technique.

I use blog commenting to build up mmy back links but I dont spam. I own a blog so I know what it is like to get spam commnets. I only leave something worth reading but Blog commenting is a very good tactic to use. It helped me go from page rank 0 to page rank3 in less than 90 days.
There is also software out there that lets you search for blogs within your niche to comment on.

I used to do that but I'm too busy with my work and building some back links to my site. If you put your keyword on your blog comment then it would be consider as a spam so I am not commenting anymore.

LoL .... this is another example of not understanding PR, page rank isn't just based on links to your site, especially when the majority of (worth while) blogs are "No Follow" links .... PR can be achieved with just content on your site and can also be measured by the age of your blog /site and the frequency of posts and page creation.

Exactly .... I delete the all comments with links on my blogs.

Most blogs add the no follow tag. So blog commenting to get backlinks is just a waste of time (and effort) and totally useless. Finding blogs that are followed is like finding a needle in a haystack and again a total waste of time.

If it's working for you than do it. Obviously this marketing technique hasn't worked for the most of the people writing in this thread, but everybody should test and see for himself. My opinion is that it will bring you a good amount of traffic only if you write extremely high quality comments and if you are one of the first commenters. But if you have all the time to actually compete for the first spot, and write all that high quality content, why not writing it for yourself? :)
