if you've done it by hand, I can understand why you might want to check, to see how much of it 'took'.

If you did it automatically, why do you even care? Spend your time creating MORE backlinks, not checking old ones.

And finally, if you really ARE doing it by hand, I fear your experience of internet marketing won't be very rewarding.

Whats the point? Most directory links are junk. Us an automated submission tool to track your submissions for you. This is not reciprocal link checking. And reciprocal link checking is a complete waste of time. Most of the software that is designed to check for links is junk. There are many reasons why it may fail to report links with any accuracy.

Submit your links. Respond to the emails you get. Then move on and forget about it.

Why? You can not change it anyway.

Oh, you really think you are going to get a link from everyone. If you ask for a 1000 links this month, you might get lucky to get 500. But next month, there will only be 250. In six months, there will only be 100. And of these, 99 will be on undexed/graybarred pages. The one you did get, it's on a PR0 page.

But you still have the 1,000 link on your site. Right!

Save the time and energy and look for that one or two PR2 links. It will pass more page rank that all of the 1,000 links above, fit within the Google requirements and takes nothing but asking people you work with for a link. Just put it on the correct page, don't screw each other and make sure that the anchor text is proper SEOed.

Oh, no reciprocal link checker checks for javaScript links, nofollow links or broken links. And I mean above the link page. Start at the home page, work your way down to your link page. Are they proper <a> type links? Oh, an image link???????

Ok, then lets say that they are perfect links. Now apply cloaking. What you see, is not what the SEs index. Bye bye links.

Forget about getting a reciprocal link checker tool, just add Sig links to this forum and you will be 1000 times ahead. Just SEO the anchor text of the SIG links.

It's crazy to state that a reciprocal links checker is a waste of time. Why?

Because in my case I reciprocate with very high quality sites from their PR pages. As often as I can, I get on their front pages. It's slower, but as has been mentioned, its far more effective.

Doing 3 way links via quality sites is rankings gold and to suggest keeping track of those is a waste of time ( when you could be building more sites ) shows a lack of understanding of the process.
