I've been checking my backlinks and I have noticed that in the past 2 weeks I have: 10 x PR3 backlinks 10 x PR4 backlinks 5 x PR5 backlinks My current site is PR4, what positive effect with these backlinks have? Will my site increase in SERPs? Checked my competition and they have 5 PR4 backlinks from other sites they own in the same niche - are they allowed to do this? 20 PR1, 10 PR2, 8 PR3. Will I out perform them?
It's more complex than just whoever has the highest PR links gets the best rankings. It depends on other things too such as keyword usage in link anchor text, keywords in the linking urls & page titles, domain age, usage of keyword onpage, etc. High PR links do help your rankings, but you won't get good rankings if you ignore the other factors. There's not much that can be done about your competitor cross linking his own websites. You can try submitting a spam report to Google, but I'm not sure if they will do anything. It will likely depend on how severe the cross linking is.
Congrats that you have a quality links coming into but as your competitors are ahead of you and if they carry on bringing more links from well ranked sites then you can get out of them competition in a flash.... So try to more focus on links building through dir, articles submission, press release.........make sure they are coming in from quality websites.
High PR links weighs a lot in search engine results, It could help your site but make sure those links are related to your niche Check other factors besides link building, analyze your site on-page stuffs and compare it to your competitor. In that way, you would now what to do and what to avoid.
It's common knowledge that Adobe Ranks number 1 in Google for "Click Here". So obviously they have a lot of incoming "backlinks" with "click here" in the anchor text. Is that valuable? Are those words you want to be found for? What if the PR of the Click Here page is 2 or 5 or 9. Build something useful. PR is nothing more than a tool to estimate value in the eyes of Google. It doesn't mean you'll rank well for what you need/want to rank for.
High Pr links positing to your site will definitely help. Are these links anchored links? What i mean do they have the keyword you want to rank for in the link? This is a very important factor if you want to rank higher in Google for a main keyword.

I think you will in the long run but don't stop now, aquire more quality anchor backlinks, use a tool like SEO elite to see what anchors they are using and try to copy percentage wise. It's just a matter of time if you stay focused on the goal!
Most of my competitors sites ar ecross linked, this is how they are passing on PR I think. As for the other issues, I have used my keyword with variations to blogs, forum posts, articles etc, I seem to be doing everything right but my position isn't rising. I've now noticed they have a wordpress blog and are copying me actions now! What is Googles view on cross linking sites - please share... Thanks for your input.
Dont talk rubbish, how are they ahead of me in linkbuilding when I have over 9,000 IN RELEVANT sites and they have 236...
