you can order the expired domain until someone else registers it before you...till then it is free for registration to everyone.

    Hi John,

You can use pool.com or godaddy.com for backordering domains. They will grab the domain for you

    1. You can either backorder the domain name at godaddy or networksolutions
    2. You can wait until domain becomes available in the market again. However, it is dependent upon registrar as to when to place the domain in the market for re-registration or whether to put or not.

Generally you will have a 30-45 day grace period to renew the domain once it has expired. This can vary from registrar to registrar, as will the process for registering the domain once the grace period has expired. Contact your registrar as they will be able to advise you on how to best go about retaining the domain.
