A lot affiliate networks (large ones) pay late in January due to the amount of commissions from the Holiday Shopping season
They cut my commission in half for some reason this month (on top of it, not feeling like it's worth all the delays compared to other networks I have more success with - might be time to drop them). They also note in my account that they processed the payment January 16th (DD), but haven't seen it yet. Lots of discrepancies this time around, and frustrating as all hell. To make matters worse, I was just in looking at stats and their site quit responding - can't get it to load at all for me at the moment. Not a happy camper to say the least.
Who cut your commissions in half - CJ or a specific advertiser? Any commission modifications are done by advertisers, not by CJ.
I know it was the specific advertiser. What pisses me off is that it took them 2 months to do it, on top of CJ incorrectly reporting other things in my account - it's more accumulated frustration with them than anything else. I haven't been keen on them for quite a while now, and at this point they're proving to be more hassle than they're worth compared to other networks - I feel like I have to put twice as much effort into keeping an eye on everything and tracking down problems with reporting.
I haven't gotten paid either through direct deposit, but don't forget yesterday was a Federal holiday..
DD payment received on the 21st for me (in AU). Lovin' that USD to AUD conversion Down with the Aussie dollar!
Paid this morning as well.. I guess the ACH was sent after hours Friday and since Monday was a Federal Holiday it didn't actually process until yesterday.
Would you mind letting us know the advertiser & the reason for the reversed commissions (was it returns, invalid sales, etc...)? Also, what incorrect reporting issues are you seeing? I work with a number of advertisers with CJ programs, and anytime we see any discrepancies in CJ compared to backend numbers from the merchant, it's due to a merchant incorrectly reporting the sale amount to the CJ pixel or improperly dynamically firing the pixel.
It was a service-oriented advertiser where the full commissions only show after their required commitment is done in full anyway - so no chance of returns in this particular case, and an invalid sale doesn't seem likely either knowing the advertiser's policies with buyers. It also shouldn't be an issue of sale amount, as it's a one-price service offer and not something like a retail shop with varying sales totals. I'd rather not disclose the actual advertiser though, as I've never had an issue with them personally. What's infuriating is that the transactions themselves that were showing in the account seem to have simply vanished - I can't find any mention of them from when they occurred anymore, nonetheless a reason for removal. At this point though, I don't earn enough through them to want to be bothered sorting it out. I just saw this thread while I was going through my stats, and figured I'd mention what I was seeing. For the most part I use them for two specific advertisers, so it's easier just to start switching ads out - one of those programs runs another aff program anyway, and the other can be replaced by a competing service that I trust enough to recommend. I just hope publishers more invested in CJ than I am are having better luck with the reporting.
Nothing ever vanishes from the system - you can always find transactions that have been reversed or "corrected", and the reason behind it. Here's how: Go to "Run Reports". Click the "Report Options" link to expand report options. Select "Commission Detail" as the report type, then select your advertiser and date range. Keep "Action", "Action Status", and "Type" as All. Under "Filter Results By", select "Corrected" under "Corrected Status". Run the report. For the corrected items, you'll be able to see the transactions and when they were reversed (click the Detail link). In the detail page, you'll see a Description column where the advertiser can choose a reason for the reversal. It can be anything from Unqualified Transaction, Invalid CC, Product Return, the ever helpful "Other", or a number of other reasons.
Thanks for that - yep... "other." And on a service lasting beyond any cancellation dates (from the transaction reports, you can see they had to have paid for at least the 60 days required for commission, so even if they did then cancel afterwards--where they couldn't have gotten a refund based on the advertiser's policies, it shouldn't have effected the commissions). Like I said though, it's not enough to worry about it. So in this case one problem was with the advertiser, and one with CJ (reporting payments actually being processed prior to their processing). Either way, glad it's sorted out for this month.
