I have $100 to invest in my website, what are the best choices?

I found a good deal, $20 for quite a few directory submissions, so that actually leaves me with $80. Are there one or two high PR directories I should pay to get into, or are there better options for the $80?

Rather than just submit to a couple directories I would pay for some articles to be written on your niche and then pay for a service like submityourarticle.com. This will get you a lot more coverage and you may get lucky with on of your articles being printed in a popular ezine. I once got 37K hits from one article on in an ezine and made about 200x what I had paid for the article.

Thanks for the tip. I'm actually in the process of writing up some good articles myself, but submityourarticle.com looks like a good site to submit them to. Thanks!

I would also recommend that you spend your money on some content instead of directory submissions.

For $100 you could get 10 to 15 nice articles to add to your site, or use a couple of them in Ezine Articles. In the long run adding nice content to your site will help you more than a lot of other things you could do including directory submissions.

A few directory submissions can still be helpful though, can't they? I would never suggest putting all of my eggs into one basket. Moderation is the key. A little bit of promotion here, a few backlinks there, and a few articles over there.

In the end though, I would still suggest you to spend most (but not all) of it on articles for your site.

Its just my opinion, but spending money on directory submissions is nearly always a waste of time and money. My site gets an average of 3000 uniques per day and all I concern myself with is quality content. No paid links, no directory submissions.

I agree... 100 articles at ezinearticles and articlebase could result to massive traffic without doing anything after articles are published... directory submission is a waste of time considering that most directories are dead.

Buy some more domains, start writing original quality content and make a network of unique content that will bring you natural, organic, search engine driven leads.

First: Another vote for content and article directory submission.
Second : If you can write the articles yourself, why don't you invest in some decent article submission software, which you can use over and over again to quickly submit the articles you have produced, unlike a 'pay per use " service like the above mentioned.

Just invest it on people who are willing to do some SEO service on your site. Directory submission is just easy that everyone can do it anytime. Building back links requires time and dedication to get a good amount of back links so I say that it would be best to hire someone to build back links for if you have the money to invest.

I got a press release that appeared on Google news for just $15. All I had to do was write one short quality article.

Combining a Google News submission with a well written article may give you the best of both worlds i.e. fast instant backlinks plus a viral aspect.

By the way kentuckyslone, if you read this post what is your website that's getting all those hits?

The two best places to spend the money is article submission and press release .Although the article submission works on about every website . Press release works wonder if your website is very appealing or may be very strange . The reason to spend money on these methods is that they will get you highly targeted visitors.

I agree with you that the best investment is content. Even average articles will work well for setting up hubpages, lenses, blogspots etc

Article submissions still help but the law of diminishing returns on submissions decrease the overall. return

I don't think that you are going you find enzine quality articles for $1 each.

I think there are plenty of free options:
    - publish your webpage on "about" sites like about.org
    - Get traffic by answering questions
    Answerbag.com
    eHow.com
    WikiHow.com
Some others (don't know if paid or not)
