How Do You Avoid The Sand Box?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by T.J., Jan 16, 2009.

I have two sites that I think may be sandboxed. I will continue to get back links for now to try and get them out. But can someone advise how NOT to get sandboxed so that way in the future I don't have this problem? Are there any tips or guidelines to follow?

    Thanks in advance.

Make your growth look natural. Don't add more pages or links than a human can.

Ok thanks I will Check that out! I had a couple of sites that were on the first page of G and are now gone. Don't know what I did wrong. Maybe it was not building natural links... Sometimes I think it may be the money I owe them for Adwords. :) I've been advised to keep building links and they will come back but we'll see.

I build rockin content, work on monetization, and ignore Google. Build your site and links as if Google didn't exist. If you rank on Google, it's a bonus, not a business model. Seriously, build your site so that you have a nice residual value outside of Google, then when you are out of the sandbox, it's even better.

    1. Build Links
    2. Setup a mailing list via Aweber or whatever
    3. Monetize each post/page and make them look professional
    4. Build More Content
    5. Check Stats Once Daily
    6. Build Links
    7. Ignore Google
    8. Build More Content

Yeh. ignore Google, they only have 60% of the entire search market... They're definitely not worth targeting? LMAO what tree did you fall out of. I hope your joking.

There are a few sneaky tricks that can take you out of the sandbox, but can hurt you in the long run. As a rule of thumb it is generally smart to keep in mind the rationale behind the sandbox, which it to eliminate websites from search results that just started out since most sites no longer exist after one year. If you can convince Google that your site will last longer then that time period then you can lessen the amount of time your site stays in the Sandbox.

Ok thanks, Ideastone. Well I'm going to take your advice and just keep working as if G doesn't exist. I don't think he means to ignore G completely... But rather not to think about it since there is nothing I can do about it due to the fact the site is boxed for now.

I will say this though my sit (which is a blog) has new post that I submit for one the key words of my choice for the new pages. It's a first page for a long tail now again. So I'm wondering if I just continue to post and submit for deep links if this will help as well. There doesn't seem to be an effect for new pages.

Good post there. Google is important, but they shouldn't have that much control over you. There are many other ways to get decent traffic.

Planning how to avoid the sandbox starts and finishes BEFORE domain registration.
Once this has occured you are just flowing down the green Google river.

it's impossible to not be "sandboxed" with a new site. i don't really care what other people in this thread have said. every new site is going to go through a "sandbox". google needs to trust your site before it ranks it well in their index. it's not really a sandbox anyway. it's just a link value deflation on all your inbound links. if you're good at building links, after 2 index updates (google updates every 3 months so around 6-8 months) your pages should be doing well in the search engine.

I've always bought aged domains when possible. You can't fake the age of a domain at least not yet.

I don't know if there are any sure ways of keeping out of the sandbox. from what I have read and from my experience it seems that all sites get sandboxed for a period of time. the main thing is to keep working on your site and building backlinks even while it is in the sandbox so that when you get out your site will be better than ever.

Sandboxed or deindexed? You said it disappeared, but it is still indexed by the big G, right?

At what point would google think that you are growing your content and backlinks too fast?
What type of experience have you guys had with google sandboxing? How long were you guys on front page before you started to notice your rank changing?

I am just starting my first site so I don't think I even have this problem yet. Getting ranked is hard enough for me :(
