Hi, I am going to make a site with Wordpress. And there is some few things I need. What thing I need to consider, to do, and what mods did I need to install if required? I want : * A static page as welcome page * Site navigation (like Blog, About Me, Contact form) at left sidebar * Out of side navigation at top (For displaying links such as Forum, etc.) * SEO of course.
you get most of these with wordpress as you install it. for seo you can use plugin. I've set up a few websites like yours my self and newer had a problem.
I have experience with that .. I was using a normal HTML based website and I converted to wordpress, 1- Don't forget the plug-ins -- Google: Must have plugins for wordrepess 2- Choose your theme wisely I have done all what you're wanting in my website. Chk it out it AddaxSoft.com and I will be happy to answer any question you have good luck
Some plugins that I like to have are: Post-Ratings Sociable NextGen Gallery but it all really depends on what you want to do!
Sure - first off, all-in-one is no longer being supported. Beyond that, platinum SEO does automatic 301 redirects, has much more involved options for nofollow (for categories, tags pages, etc), and I personally like the small space it takes up in New Post menus. Overall I just found it to be a better experience.
-Platinum SEO Looks like that's the main difference between those two plugins. Wouldn't say it's leagues better thou.
I don't know platinum seo support 301 redirect! thanks for that markn26 actually to set up a wordpress as a static website is actually very easy. once you have installed the package, goes to your admin control panel then settings -> reading. at the "front page display option" check the static page option. and at the drop down choose a page you have set up. (you need to write a wordpress page first,) click on "save pages" and that is! You set up more pages using the "write command" and include the links in your templates CSS files. you do need some HTML skills to make it work and I will use permalink redirect to make the "/?p=4" parameter to look more meaningful links like http://www.domain.com/abc/your-article-here/ HTML:
Yes pretty permalinks are a must to optimize your SEO. Google likes keywords in the URL so having your post name as your URL is great instead of having a random number as post name.
Question # 1 in Wp 2.7 you can sticky a post, so it could be as a welcome page #2 & #3 i guess its depends on your wp theme #4 there's a good plugin all in one seo pack and a pretty url aka permalink from admin panel
