Is BOTW.org even worth it? Go with Portprophecy's list, can't go wrong with it. May want to add Abilogic.com and ABifind.com
if all you've got is $300, I would spend it on a few of the medium directories instead of just one link from Yahoo. Yahoo is good but it's probably not the best "value" if that's all you can afford.
I would't submit to yahoo directory. They have totally pushed it aside, it's gone from the new home page.
its effect is not direct traffic, still receive some descent traffic from it though. I believe it is an important bonus for the search algorithms for both yahoo and google. Google even encourages the webmasters to submit to Yahoo! and dmoz. All internal pages of dmoz are 0 PR right now, but still it will remain a big factor in serps. I am sure google did that to reduce the spammy submissions to odp looking for PR.
I would submit to Yahoo. A listing in Yahoo.com directory also gets you listed in: Yahoo Asia Yahoo Australia & NZ Yahoo Canada Yahoo Singapore* Yahoo UK & Ireland * Depending on category structure. If you suggest a geographical location when submitting, your listing could be included in relevant regional categories. One of our submissions was added to 4 separate regional categories. dmoz internal categories are not PR0 try viewing the non-www version http://dmoz.org
The last thread I read about Yahoo said that you shouldn't sunmit to Yahoo directory as it takes the desciption (that they edit) above all else so are liable to loose your current rankings- and the link was not seo friendly but a redirect with no PR value!! They said that not many people realised this and quite a few peolpe said they had found their rankings dropped after sunbmission.......can't remeber the name of the thread though I had just decided NOT to submit because of that, reading all this though makes me wonder if I should.....aghhhh!!! Does anyone know the right answer?!
Octopedia, site-sift, alivedirectory, alltheweb, unadir, Yahoo and you're pretty well done... I miss some but those are pretty good
Ok, I guess I gotta plug my own directory: - $5 - Directory's index page is a PR5. - lifetime links - deep-linking allowed - Multiple submission allowed - link gets included on 3 other sites (each with a seperate IP) - link will also be included in all future directories It seemed like a good value to me. The URL is www.after5webdesign.com/directory/index.php
