LOL thank you guys. I was really hoping that post didn't come off whiny or anything. I'm just not a "text" person. So if anyone does want to use my logo but put their text skills to use... I'd be happy to split the money. :) That's not a bad idea.

Not many people who enter contests on here are text people either, they just use the filters and actions in photoshop/fireworks to add effects to their text..Which is why we see so many people throwing 20 or thirty entries with just different text variations.

There really isn't much to doing text effects free-handed. Since there isn't many effects I can use in illustrator I stay away from a lot of the banner/header contest but i still manage to win a few contests and even come close to beating Wateri :0 If you know gradients, transparency, and have fonts you can compete.

I don't see your post coming off as whiney or anything but did you see me pull out when Shinan said my text wasn't professional ... You really have to believe in your abilities, everyone else does.

Okay I'll give the text thing one more shot (hope it doesn't kill me) because everyone herei s so encouraging :). Tightwad: I certainly wouldn't mind having those fonts, but, doesn't windows have a limit on how mnay can be installed? I seem to remember running into that problem once.

Windows98/SE/ME can only handle about 1000 Fonts before it starts dumping.
Windows XP + can handle much more. I typically only keep 500-700 core fonts installed.

Here's my second try with text colors changed as requested, no borders or web2.0 stuff. :)

@Tightwad: Oh okay! I've got XP so we're good there. I've got to check into getting those fonts because... I only have the basics. It's quite sad, really.

So many nice entries into this contest!

Thanks everyone for your revisions. But sorry to say this, none of the newer entries were what we are looking for, thats why I haven't given individual feedback. Lets summarize things up. Oh and, Phyza have proved me that they themselves have made the mascot by providing he handdrawn sketch of it with their name written on it :)

Without meaning to speak out of turn, i don't think that showing a hand drawn sketch of a mascot is proof you created it, I could sketch up that mascot now and put my name on it and would that prove to you i created it? Normally you'd have to prove it by stripping down some elements of the mascot, changing one particular part or showing without final rendered shading etc. I am not suspecting phyza at all of not creating that mascot, but if they did they should be working for a hell of a lot more than 75 bucks! ;)

I had the same exact thought but decided not to say anything to save myself the headache, but now that it's been brought up I might as well add my 2 cents.

I'm not trying to discredit anyone either, but in my humble opinion; Phyza does not have the capability to make such a shark logo, his/her past posts from other threads and his/her 2nd entry in this thread are enough proof for me to believe so.

If you look at the boxes which hold the text in the 2nd entry, they are not proportionally correct nor seem to be shaded in the correct manner. What I mean to say is that the graphics level on the shark is way above the graphics level of the text/boxes.

Someone capable of creating such a shark image of that caliber should be able to to decently implement text as well.

Not only that, but this member has been caught in the past stealing someone else's vectors and boldly claiming it their own.

If I am mistaken then oh well I'm sorry, but I'd hate to see you get ripped off, and I'd also hate to see someone win a contest by bullshitting and stealing work, when the hard working original people deserve to win.

The thing about the text integration being a natural by-product of good drawing/coloring skills is not necessarily true. I can paint very well (far beyond this shark mascot, but they wanted simple/cartoony which is my specialty) and I still suck majorly when it comes to any text elements. :) That's all I'm going to say in this particular argument.

I agree with you 100% percent! and like you said he got caught stealing artwork and claiming it was his, look here
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=10212548&postcount=94

This one is funny, he "creates" this image
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=10184208&postcount=31

Then somebody ask him if he made that vector and his reply was...
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=10184451&postcount=35

2 post downs and L3fty busts him out!
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=10184660&postcount=38

I will just be careful, I know mine came from a stock site but I paid for it and spend time to clean it/modify it, it takes money, time or skills to create more money, stealing somebodies artwork and slapping some text that don't match the quality of the artwork, well that's a different story.

No wonder he doesn't want to post the "sketch" for the rest of us to see, It's very easy to do that and look like he did it, print the image, use clear paper and sketch over it.
