    Hi all,

I have been at WA for about 2 months now... I thought I had SEO all figured out in my head, but the topic of backlinks is starting to confuse my...

I was told in the past to get as many backlinks as possible so I was going to get www.articlemarketer.com and submit articles to it, they distribute the article to 4000 directories... I figure 1 article per day X 4000 directories is loads of backlinks...

NOW, I am being told at WA that these type of backlinks are not good for you standing in google and can actually hurt your SEO standing... But WA don't tell you where to get backlinks they just say not to get them from these kind of sources.

If anyone has use a site directory submitter or a article directory submitter I would be greatful to hear your testimonial,

    Thanks in advance,

    Fergal

Actually it depends on what articles you are submitting. If the articles are already posted in your website, then it will definitely hurt your rankings. Always keep this thing in mind, make different articles on both your website and for article submission.

Besides article submission, there are lots of link avenues out there. These are some of link strategies/avenues that you could do:

    Forums
    Directories
    Article submission
    Press release
    Social Media
    etc..

But before going into these avenues, you should optimized your website first.

If you submit 1 article to 4000 directories it will totally hurt your site. Just create at least 400 articles and distribute to 4000 directories. In which at least 10 directories will have the same articles.

    Hi Fergal
I would like to submit all my articles manually, this the best way to do as it is taken care of by an individual.Where as a software will not target your keywords effectively.Your articles must be unique to avoid duplication. There are very few companies which deal with manual submissions and are effective and yet affordable to get your job done.

just by doing article submission will not get your site ranked well any longer. google now flags duplicate content and what you are doing is submitting the same content to 4000 sites which will not give you 4000 backlinks. after indexing a few, google will realize that these are all same content and will stop giving you credit for the rest of the backlinks. you should always diversify your link building campaign and use as many linkbuilding methods as possible. if you are submitting articles, its wise not to submit to 4000 sites but 100 or 200 sites. its ideal to use unique content on all article sites but thats a lot of articles we are talking baout so you can use one article but spin it for variation before submitting

Not Agree...It doesn't make any impact on your website rankings if you are using 1 article in thousands of directories, However, you should tell Google that these all article are related to the original website(by putting your original website link within article content or Author Bio), then Google will not consider that content as duplicate, hence no negative impact on your search engine rankings.

Do you know the meaning of an article..an article is a collection of informative content on any particular topic, that could be helpful to others. And if I am distributing that content over Web, you said it would be spam...

If this is the correct scenario then Google always spam their articles as those articles are used by millions of other websites.

Submiting to directories which are 4000 as you said is nothing but making your website a SPAM in google's eyes............these dir will not give you quality links instead you will be gifted by spams in your published email......

also please dont use any of the automated softwares to submit links as google hates this.......:D:D:D

I have heard that its not wise to submit the same articles to directories as you would post on your site so it seems a little redunant to have to write articles twice but none the less makes alot of sense from an SEO standpoint. I have been submitted my on site articles to directories and still cant tell whether it has had an adverse affect. Going to stop now and let things cool off a bit..

    HI

    Yes

google will not give you the backlinks but you still have more webmasters seeing your articels if you submit them to more directories... over time you will get you article posted on more blogs and sites.... that should be your goal..
