Hi, when looking through my webstats there is a section called: 'Links from an external page (other web sites except search engines)' There are a few odd links in there which lead to login screens for Yahoo, AOL and Windows Line as well as odd I.P. addresses. Are these quite normal or can anyone explain why they might be there. Thanks in advance.
If your webstats pages are publicly accessible, people could be sending you fake traffic in an attempt to get a link from your webstats page. In some cases people might try sabotaging a website by doing this with shady links. If you haven't done so already, I would block your webstats via the robots.txt file.
Hi vansterdam, thanks for the reply. Can could you possibly indicate what I would tell the robots not to look at so to speak. Or how would I find the location of the stats page if I am entering it through a login screen. I appreciate there is a URL when I am on my stats page, is this what I should be blocking. Any further guidance would be appreciated. Thanks again in advance.
Thanks falguni1, do you think the links actually do any harm then. If so do you know how to block them using the robots.txt file or am I as well leaving well alone. Regards.
