As the Obama era draws near on January 20, 2009, what do you believe could be one of the first major foreign policy actions that America will implement? I see an urgent directive to put a stop to all major wars, primarily between Palestine and Israel. Could be the very reason why Israel is strongly pushing deeper and deeper into Gaza in order to establish possession and claim territorial jurisdiction on the strip before America issues a "cease and desist" on all wars involving the United States and any of its allies.
Obama eara will be a breath of fresh air to everyone I am sick of the Bush and of the illegal war he started in Iraq. And it is my wish that American Presidents will stop treating America as if it is the world's police force. Bring our military forces home from all over the globe and let other people fight their own petty wars without American influence, unless of course some other bully tries to take over the world like Hitler/Germany tried in the 1940s. AFAIK Isreal has no rights to permanently occupy Gaza and I hope Obama and Hillary Clinton condem that action.
[ Could be the very reason why Israel is strongly pushing deeper and deeper into Gaza in order to establish possession and claim territorial jurisdiction on the strip before America issues a "cease and desist" on all wars involving the United States and any of its allies.[/QUOTE] January 18, Israel declared unilateral ceasefire in its war against the Hamas; January 19, pre-inauguration of U.S President-elect Obama, Israeli forces were gradually pulled out from Gaza; January 20, U.S. President Barack Obama officially assumes. What will happen next to the Hamas-Israeli feud? Take note, George W. Bush will no longer be president by then... So what?
As far as I know the top things on Obama's list right now. 1. Close Gitmo, bring terrorists to US so they have the same rights and protection as illegal immigrants at the cost of the US tax payers safety and pocket book. 2. Make it legal again, for the US tax payer to pay for abortions for illegals. 3. Eliminate the BCS and move to a playoff type system. 4. Tell Gays that they should come out of the artillery closet instead of "Don't ask, Don't tell". 5. SPEND MORE MONEY, - er, spend more monopoly money that is. Am I the only one that's had about enough of the Obamapalooza lately? I thought Bono was gonna dump his load on live TV yesterday. I've never seen another Irishman salavate over another man stone cold sober.
No you are not the only one. I hope he is not what I think he is, just another sell out but very well spoken politician, using the classic "change" campaign strategy when the American people have had enough and cling to such simple propaganda, but only time will tell. Hopefully he realizes that whatever backroom deals he has made to get where he is do not matter as much as the United States and its people and he will do the right thing.
Bono is a focking bellend, I used to really love U2 but this dweeb will show up at any event that will get his face on TV, he's totally shameless. And Obama is going to be a disaster, not as much of a disaster as your lover Dubya Bush was but he's still going to be shocking. It's going to be quite funny a few months or years from now when the Americans that voted for him find out he's a duff. Having said that the alternative was insane John McWar and he would have been EVEN WORSE than Dubya.
Same special interest groups backing obama as the ones who supported mccain. I agree with Ags , a disaster but not as big a disaster as bush .
Obama has the potential to do even more damage because he's popular enough to get away with even more absurd proposals while people are distracted by his powerful words and on-screen charm. I expect the rate at which things are spiraling out of control should marginally pick up, probably not much "change" other than that for a few more years...
Even before Obama had it announced to be his first foreign policy step, Israel- Hamas feud has already waned down. Next to be pulled out should be the Afghan "peacekeepers". I'd rather dwell more on the issues than even give attention to the entertainment, I feel more responsible and mature that way.
I liked his speech alot , being from Pakistan this means alot for me as well, hopefully he can "work with the muslim countries regarding mutual interests"
You know, when I watched this happen live on TV, it seriously ruined the whole thing. Not that I supported him in the first place...but I still have respect for any incoming President. But yeah, when he messed up the whole room was like "OHHHHHHHHH MAN!". I mean, I thought Biden would mess his up, not Obama!
But Obama can get away with it. He pulls it off with a great smile. No one will post it on the news over and over and over again, in fact you will probably be laughed at for even saying it happened a year from now.
I believe the Chief Justice screwed the line up, and Obama leaned in with a kind of "you sure?" to a line we all have to know the man had on his mind for quite a while. The line should be: "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States...." Roberts's version: "...I will execute the office of President to the United States faithfully..." In other words, a bit of a Yoda version ("em, yes, President States United you are...," but it was Roberts's gaffe, and an awkward moment of "you want me to say it your way, or the proper way?" And in matter of import, it ranks up there with what brand of toothpaste the Presidential dog uses, to me, at least.
Of course, Obama has been one huge wet dream for the press. I can't wait until everyone is sitting here before his first term is up going, "what did I do". The American people are just like sheep. Illegal war? It wasn't illegal. If your acting for the national security of your country, its not illegal. What is an illegal war? That term has always confused me. If Congress is funding it, and signed the bill authorizing it, its not illegal. Please educate yourself. And I love how the dems can talk all sorts of bad things about GWB, but once a Rep says something bad about Obama, we're automatically racist. Pretty ignorant. He's not even black. He's mixed. His black daddy abandoned him. He was raised white. He acts like a rich white guy. He is just a little darker.
Should of said... I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will **faithfully** execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. The judge screwed up and said... I do solemnly swear that I will execute the office of President **to** the United States **faithfully**, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. Obama still screwed up 'faithfully' after it was 'corrected'!!!!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oath_of_office_of_the_President_of_the_United_States So technically, come midnight...We will have no president of the USA!!!!!!!!!
That was hilarious. Shows the difference between someone that reads, and someone that listens. What a joke. Hopefully we can focus more attention here at home. Particularly when it comes to spending. I'd like to see Congress leave things alone for 6 months and see what happens. Throwing more monopoly money at a problem they caused is not going to help. It's going to make it worse. U2 were the shit back in the day. I'm not sure what happened to Bono or what exactly it is he is on. Truthfully its Pelosi and Reid that are the disaster, and will continue to be a disaster. At this point it does not look like Obama is making any friends on that side of the isle. If anything, he's gonna be told what to do. McCain is about as pro war as Obama is Mexican. I don't know too many Vietnam era vets that went through he went through that went back only to try to forgive and open relations.
