Latest breaking news of the day

    http://edition.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/19/obama.inauguration.eve/index.html
President-elect Barack Obama called his former Republican presidential rival, Sen. John McCain, a hero at a bipartisan dinner Monday night and encouraged politicians to reach across the aisle.

President-elect Barack Obama greets Sen. John McCain on stage after praising him at a bipartisan dinner.

1 of 3 "I could stand here and recite the long list of John's bipartisan accomplishments ..." Obama said.

"Campaign finance reform. Immigration. The Patients' Bill of Rights. All those times he has crossed the aisle and risked the ire of his party for the good of his country. And yet, what makes John such a rare and courageous public servant is not the accomplishments themselves, but the true motivation behind them."

McCain returned the gracious feelings at the dinner.

"I am very grateful to the president-elect and to all of you for this very considerate gesture, and for allowing me to play a small role in the inauguration of the 44th president of the United States, even if it isn't the one I had in mind a few months ago," McCain said.

Yes change will come guaranteed, especially since obama is at the mercy of the special interest groups that funded him into office and the corrupt 2 party system that controls our politics. I think its wishful thinking hoping for change. Its all up to whether the elite want to give us a break from war, poverty , econimic suffering and physical suffering. They control the cards here. The true candidate Ron Paul was the one brite light that would have changed alot of things.

Although I was hopeful that this thread would be without criticism

I have to honestly agree with your view of Ron Paul, but regretably we are in the minority

yea britishguy, but i still think obama is the lesser bad of the 2, but at least bush isnt in office and insane mccain thankfully didnt get elected, but on the positive side I think Obama will try to make his claim in the history books by effecting some change on his own because I also think the elite will give him some leeway . remember the riots in 68, and this is why If any of the puppets have any chance to effect change in a positive light it will be obama.
