Publishers: How to recruit affiliates? Share your tips

Something Zibblu mentioned in the earnings thread was that the two biggest factors in making money as a publisher are your salesletter quality and your ability to recruit affiliates.

On the second point, how do you find your affiliates?. I'm not talking about being attractive by having tools and such, but how do you reach them in the first place.

Obviously marketplace is a start - any tips for an attractive marketplace ad?

Please share your tips, I'll start with a few.

    - use a php script to boost your gravity by rotating your clickbank IDs as an affiliate for those sales where an affiliate did not send the traffic. I've not done this myself but I hear it can boost gravity significantly and therefore make you look attractive to potential affiliates.

    - put an ad on clickbanksuccessforum.com. Someone on warriors said they did this and they got a lot of interest. The ads are cheap too. I've done this once before but it was for a crap product.

    - obviously, post on this forum here on DP :D

    - another one I learned of recently but have yet to do myself: search twitter for your product's main keywords. You'll find affiliates who are using twitter to promote. Contact them via their site (or does twitter have personal messaging?) and ask if they're interested to promote you. Great thing is that these are active (i.e. right now) affiliates.

Any other good tips for reaching affiliates?

There's one thing that drives affiliates to promote a product.....

The proof of other people making money with it.

You can find people all over the Internet who will happily sit down and do certain things to try and sell your product... but they aren't going to spend their own time and effort to do it if they don't know it's going to pay off.

Agree 90%, you will still get people to sell your product without, but only the serious people will get involved when they KNOW money can be made!

So how does that translate into a strategy the publisher can use? Apart from inflating the gravity.

If you are making money they will jump on board when you tell them!

Hey! :D It does answer the question, doesn't it? :D

I'm currently working on something similar that will make it even easier for publishers and affiliates to find each other. Stay tuned...

I think karabas link is great and I look foward to this unique new solution.....at the moment, it seems like the only way to stand out is gravity (assuming 75% commission already).

Nothing wrong with a bit of shameless self promoting. I'm curious to see who hasn't.
P.S. hanging out for the new feature sounds very helpful

The new feature will not replace "product of the day" in fact it would complement it. So don't hold out on using p.o.d. while waiting for the new feature :)
