Hi All, I have a website whose homepage is made up of Flash,in which main menu where other page links are present is also in Flash,so google is not indexing those pages. Please suggest SEO methods to get my website pages indexed.
hi sanjana, I think you should know that seo spider can't read flash website thats y they don't indexed the pages so you have to make an alternative flash i.e html pages of the same website. But recently i have heard this that google has stargted indexing Flash.Can anybody tell is this possible and how?
yes you are absolutely correct the Google has started indexing flash pages but the problem right now is that it is being quite selective and no one knows the reason behind it. moreover, it is in the process of development along with Adobe which will allow Googlebot to crawl flash and other Rich Internet Applications. For now if you want to do SEO then you will have to: 1) Create an alternative HTML page which will allow robots to crawl them. 2) Input metadata with the help of flash development tools. 3) Last of all you can use absolute positioning technique called 'Z' order. It allows to place the content partially or even fully on the top of the other content. Thus, the visitor will view the flash movie whereas the search engine will view the relevant keyword laden text. but i am not absolutely sure about the nature of this technique i.e. whether it is black hat or grey hat Thanks
yeah thats what i am saying that i am not too sure about the last technique but i read abt it in a reputed blog written by a reputed programmer.
I believe you're just going to have to take a hit if you're making a 100% flash website. If you could my slice off sections as html, that would help GREATLY. Most ways to SEO flash are blackhat, extremely blackhat.
sanjana .. i suggest you to post the link of website so that we can check and come with better alterna methods.. but from my end in above stated 4 steps 3 are good . that will work fine. I suggets have bottom link in home page which are simple href tags not js or flash. Have proper linked sitemap which is HTML page not Flash. If client insits then ask them to have 2 versions one in html and one in complete flash. you can have intro page which will link to both .. that will work. One more imp suggestion is good links for both by relevent websites that will do .. but one thing have paitence to get crawled..

Thanks you all for your suggestions, My site is in html but only the main home page is entirely in flash,so the navigation structure where the inner pages link is present is in flash..so google has only indexed my homepage not the rest of the pages in the website.I just want a solution that how should I alter my Flash homepage so that google can index rest of the pages.
sanjana , Have bottom links at home page which should be in HERF .. and sitemap page which has all links .. that will help. Crawling links in flash is not done yet i feel
Give a top or bottom text based link menu on every page of your website......and that will surely get indexed all your inner pages by Search Engines
