Hmm. I posted a proper review of IE8 and it was deleted. Here it is again. IE8 will continue to be the worst browser on the planet.
i think firefoxis to good nd i use it in my system it is easy to use IE8 is good but firefox is better.
by "worst browser" I guess you mean from a programmer's point of view. The office I worked in had some web programmers who were always cussing up a storm because IE didn't follow the same rules as other browsers. But as just a user I don't have a problem with IE7, and like it more than FF. I have both installed on my computer but rarely use FF.
Yes and no. From a developer's point of view I feel the same as your developers do. From a user's point of view, a user would be frustrated if they realized all the things that could be done on the web if only IE could handle it. ALL other browsers handle web technology Microsoft states they have no plans of supporting. Like XHTML, SVG, proper DOM support, proper Javascript, and more. Even now, parts of HTML5 are usable in ALL browsers but not IE. And Microsoft even co-chairs that committee!
I agree with Ancient Dragon, and even though I have FF installed I barely use it and prefer IE. Simply cannot get used to FF and find it NOT as hot as most of you folks here. The same goes for Google as SE, really hate it beyond myself and prefer yahoo search 1000 times over it... is much and much more accurate. And while knowing that I will be frown upon by the Google lovers here - who cares
Ok so how can I see the difference? If I visit the same site with IE7 and FF what differences will I see? I have visited some sites where all I see is a small square in the upper-left corner where I think a picture should be. Is that one of the problems you are talking about?
Let's start with a true XHTML page. First view this in Firefox, Safari or Opera, then any version of IE. I had a much better page to show but the guy now serves code just for IE. That's just one technology. I've got other sites for other currently available technologies on any browser but don't work on IE. What you are talking about, the box, is not the same thing. Well coded sites find hacks around IEs quirks and bugs, so you won't notice any differences because the developer hid the errors. What I'm talking about are technologies which IE cannot perform, such as the site I show above. If you need more demos. Maybe I can come down from Weldon Spring and show you .
Open source projects are much more beneficial and detailed these days then paid ones. With millions of members contributing to Firefox every day, any other browser will still be left behind. They have been practically the first in the mind with a lot of things, not to mention great add-ons that make us webmasters lives a hell of a lot easier then any other browser could... When you compare firefox's compatibility with programming languages like CSS, you start to understand why it's a much better browser. From a user's point of view, Internet Explorer is still a good browser - until you get sick of it crashing all the time hehe. But at the end of the day, it comes down to personal choice and that will override everything. Microsoft are meant to build operating systems, hardware and gaming consoles, not browsers...and clearly I doubt Mozilla would have the resources to build a great and expensive O/S so both companies need each other...(unlike Google...taking over the world haha) my 2 cents - A
