Even if refreshing your own page shouldn't harm your cpc earnings, it does skew your ecpm. I too choose not to show google ads on my own site. I set a variable to 0 - don't show or 1 - show for testing.

Just a note, when I use a cookie to stop showing ads, I show a fake image of the same size so I get the lookand feel, or the flow, of the page still.

That is my approach as well, with just one difference; I show a div box of a Google ad size wih border and background.

It is against the TOS to keep refreshing your page time and time again. I do it about 5 times or so when testing. If I have to do it more than that, then I would just make a table and use a bgcolor of red or something and then make the tables widths and heights the same as the ad and then put that there instead of the ad so that I can see what it looks like.

Although Google can see your IP, what about if you have alot of computers using different IP's, plus IP's can change on computers.

Don't forget that alot of advertisers are also paying you on a CPM basis. Now if Google does include some of these Impressions then you may earn a little money from it, which you may think is good, but then again if your advertisers are not getting that many clicks from their impressions on your site then they will just go else where.

In AdSense program policies they state you can not make page impressions yourself same as clicks.

Iagree. You may not make page impressions now as there are advertisers who directly target your sites and pay on a CPM basis and not a CPC basis.

Keep refreshing your page and you will be loosing them money.

I am sure Google can recognize developer testing impressions and ignore or deduct them. I get quality of ad credits on my Adwords account for bad clicks or impressions.
