Guys and Gals, I have been blogging for the past 6 months and I would say that the moments of exhilaration are awesome when you get to know that people really are reading and talking about what you have written on your blog.

I update regularly and submit the posts to some of the best socail bookmarking sites. But, I have observed that a few of them are in no way helping me get the traffic.

I would like to let you know those social bookmarking sites and request you to share your favourite bookmarking sites as well.

I use and get lots of traffic from:

    www.digg.com
    www.mixx.com
    www.friendfeed.com
    www.propeller.com
www.blogcatalog.com (even though not a bookmarking site particularly)

The above ones really drive a good amount of traffic for my blog.

    Do share yours please.

i am still thinking why you are calling friendfeed a social bookmarking site. I get decent traffic from indianpad and humsurfer. dizzed.com also managed to send me some traffic when I got to first page.

Well jeffr0X, I do not agree with your view as there is nothing like 'whichever works for your site go for it'.

There are just 'which drive traffic' and 'which have not got you a significant traffic'.

Significant in the sense I mean atleast 30% of the traffic.

I do not confide whether 30% can be said as a standard, but I hope that at the least one site must be driving the traffic to your blog/site.

    Help us with ur views.

well, based on my experience, social bookmarking sites will drive a descent amount of traffic to your site but for a really short amount of time ... then you'll get zero traffic ..
The only way to get a steady amount of traffic from those sites is to submit your site DAILY to 10s of them which is really time consuming .. :)

It all depends on the niche. If it's something that most people aren't interested in, you won't get hits.

But what kind of traffic do you get from Stumbleupon? Is it targeted traffic that actually converts? Or is it just...traffic?

Well, maintaining a blog/site in itself is time consuming and you do need to get the traffic in order to make the blog/site rolling. So, time is basically the most important factor and we need to spend time if we wish to see our blog in the high esteem.

Creative in the sense? can you be more specific? I presume StumbleUpon traffic mostly increases with the number of 'thumbsup'. If even 10 ppl see the site and no one gives a 'thumbsup' then I assume your site/blog would not see the world. Please correct me if I am wrong.

StumbleUpon traffic I presume is not a targeted traffic. Ppl who randomly wish to see some good sites prefer stumbleupon and there is no real interaction with the viewer here.

Do you bookmark your own sites on those social networks, or do you rely on others to bookmark your sites. I know some social bookmarking sites frown on bookmarking your own stuff, but what is your thought?

We are aware of that Mab. But, you must be also aware that to hit the front page, you need atleast 100 Digg friends to promote you into the first place??

I submit my own posts on the social bookmarking sites.

Until now, there is no problem.

    Thanks for pointing it out.
