I think it's a blow to tech fans that CC is now dead. I shopped there a couple of times a year, and did a lot of browsing. One less competitor probably means gadgets are going to get a lot pricier and even the internet isn't the safe haven it once was since some States now want to start charging taxes on items purchased over the web. American electronic retailers don't know what they're doing; CompUSA had to close its stores and only exist today due to the TigerDirect purchased.

I know some CC employees and they're pissed off about losing their jobs. I believe CC should have tried to break up the company and sell its stores by region, it would have saved more jobs.

Yeah it sucks, all US stores (that are still open) are starting their liquidation process within the next few days. The closet one by me started today, but so far its only like 10-15% off, so I'm going back sometime in the next week or so when itll be even cheaper haha. They were great, but we can't have two of the same stores and I would rather BestBuy over CC in the long run.

Anyways, go check your local CC for amazing deals =]

60 years of hard work, gone in a flash. Sad to hear that they can't even file for Chapter 11 and gone straight to liquidation instead.

They did file for chapter 11 about a month or two ago, but with the low economy they just couldn't keep up sales ect.

Sounds like they have been in Chapter 11, and still couldn't save the company. :(

What a drag...when this happens, the bigger companies just get bigger and stronger by capturing more market share. Too bad they couldn't have switched more attention to internet only sales and hung on.
