I have a new directory (pr1) and i have had several people wanting to buy homepage ads.

What is a fair price for text link ads and 125x125 banner ads?

    thanks.

because I am sick of the threads like this.

You can sell an ad based on:

    nofollow / do follow
    traffic
    position of the ad
    PageRank if you sell links
    Niche
number of the ads on that page
    ad size
    etc

You question was too wide, and too odd and too boring.
If you are happy with the amount of money you get for that ad, go for it. If not, negotiate. You are the one who worked on your directory and you should know how much can charge for you skin :)

Oh and... I am stressed :)

Its always a good idea to start from cheap and then raise your prices comparing to start a high price and then lowering it (if you dont find advertisers).

As an advertiser, I wouldnt personally pay more than $10/month for a 125x125 ad on a new directory's homepage and that is if the directory has some decent traffic

    Good luck

How come on this thread you say no porn.

But your latest link is dvd porno.
    <edit> he's removed it.

Why should anybody advertise with you when you have no integrity?

Yes of course, why didn't I think of that.

If you're referring to this thread then I don't see any hostility, only unanswered questions.

If you were and advertiser with a decent budget, how much would you be willing to pay if you were in their position? :)

That will depend on many variables, the position of the ad, the number of ads in the section, your unique visitors, and many other things.

the other side of the coin is the ads being placed, if no work is done in getting the rite ad you also are wasting your money.

Many people have big idea's on what they THINK their site is worth and often over value the ad spot then wonder why no body returns. Good advertisers will quickly pull up stumps on any site not working and only the fools will continue to pay high prices for no or little return.

Put up some adsense on your site or similar and see what the market will pay for your site, that would be a good indicator.

    I think it's depend on :
    1. where ad you will locate
    2. page rank
    3. page views per day
    4. unique visitor per day
