I have a small business going on. So far I accept bank deposits, PayPal, Moneybookers and Liberty Reserve for the payment. I wanted to broaden my business and start to accept CC and debit card for the payment. How can I do this? Did i have to go to Visa and Mastercard and apply their CC in order to accept CC?

You need to apply for what is called a "merchant account". What country are you in?

No, credit cards are accepted all over the world. You are essentially applying for a merchant account, just like the businesses down your street have. You can apply for a merchant account at a bank, or you can apply online. I'm not familiar with anywhere you can apply for a Malaysian merchant account online, but you can search for it.

Paypal also offers merchant services, but I don't think they offer that in Malaysia. You should double check though.

    Good luck!

I would simply use PayPal to process your credit card payments.

Processing credit cards can sometime cost hundreds a month depending on where your getting the processing from...

We use Kagi for a few years and it is in my opinion a good choice if you dont sell very expensive stuff and your turnover is lets say tens or hundreds USD per month. We are located in central Europe and there were no problems with this US company yet.

Paypal charges just as much or more to process credit cards. But the amount always depends on how much business you are doing.
