I think Dhoni seems to be better captain then Ponting because of his bowling changes and trust on players, I am not marking on the base of winning matches as Dhoni have better percentage but Ponting won big series but Dhoni's tactics in tight condition is awesome and it produce good results for India.
Well I will go with M Dhoni because I am Indian... but I think ponting is good captain then Dhoni. He was won 2 Worldcup under his captaincies And still Australia at No.1 position under his captaincies. but now Running his bad time.
Dhoni is way better than pointing in captaincy while Pointing is good in batting and has more experience.
Ponting has more experience and can really carry the team from No.3, and he has proved his performances in the one day and test arena. I think it is unfair to compare the teams now as Australia has lost almost all of their base players; Langer, Gilchrist, Hayden, McGrath, Warne, Martyn and we are pretty much in a rebuilding stage.
Well I agree with you and we knows he is a great captain and batsmen but he is doing many mistakes and we know last year he found many times guilty for slow over rate. Also we know what he did in India when they were top of India, he change main bowlers and bring part time bowler.
Well I think ponting is better, because of his experience and time also has shown that no one is better Ponting because he is the man who make Australia to won 2 world cups.
Ricky ponting has proved his worth, while Dhoni is yet to get a World cup in the pocket for India. He might do it, but as of now, my vote goes to Ponting
Yes but one changes which he gives us to fight till the end of the game which we missing for many years and he also build a young and better team and we can hoping for 2011 Home World Cup for us.

Being Indian I should go for M.S. Dhoni , but naturally Ricky Pointing is a good player as a captain .
For now i will rate Dhoni above Ponting but its too early to say that Dhoni is world's best captain.In terms of batting skills,i rate Ponting above Dhoni.
Yup! No doubt Ricky Pointing is one of best batsmen and he will rated above Dhoni, we know Dhoni comes batting at no.6 or 7 so we can't compare this two batsmen on batting skill.
