If the recent discovery of methane on mars proves what is suspected, that life exists, or previously existed on mars and had come about entirely independently of life on earth, how will that effect the notion of special creation?

I mean, If we aren't even the only planet in our solar system which gave rise to life how special can humans be in your god eyes? If life is found on mars that will mean 25% of the planets in our solar system alone will harbour completely independent life which kind of puts a dent in the idea that we, or earth, is in some way special or that the formation of self replicating molecules requires divine intervention.

What i suspect will happen is the religious will invent some contrived, ad-hoc rationalisation which will allow them to continue believing something in spite of the mounting evidence to the contrary, Which is what they usually do with contrary evidence.

We are unique and special, but not in the special creation way.

Anyway, there might be an expedition to find divine artifacts on Mars in the future by some evangelical organization. Pieces of Noah's ark maybe.

First, of all i don't know how the discovery of ET life will affect my belief? I myself am curious whether there is life outside earth or not? I think that where ever it may be, it would be microscopic, and scientists believe that there are chances that some kind of life may exist on Titan. I would be much excited after such a discovery.

The Universe alone, makes a rational mind think that someone created it!

I explained why it might effect your beliefs. it's because it would prove that the formation of life is easier than special creation would have us think, It would prove that self replicating molecules and multicellular life can easily form entirely independently of one another.

Of course, if you still believe that life requires divine intervention you would have to find a way to rationalise why your god would have created life, More than likely nothing more complex than moss, but life none-the-less, on mars.

Well, If God can create us and the whole Universe(as we believe), then whats the big deal about God creating life on other planets and Solar Systems?
Even if life is discovered outside Earth, it will be a creation of God! Who knows probably, God may want us to make advancements and then discover HIS creations in far reaches of Space.
As far as i know(although i confess that my knowledge is limited), no where in the Quran it is written that there is no life outside Earth. So atleast Muslims should have no problems with ET.

I'm not saying if god existed that creating life on mars would be difficult for him, I'm saying how will it effect the notion of special creation. I made this perfectly clear.
