This is such an easy way to get good quality backlinks, yet so many people don't think of doing this. Run a backlink check on your competition, see where they have their quality links. Get in touch with those sites and see if you can get a link on there as well. I like to use http://seopro.com.au/free-seo-tools/new/link-checker/ when it's running properly. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get good, niche specific links with solid PR by simply sending a friendly email asking for a link on their site. Often you'll find blogs, directories and sites that you never even thought of trying to get a link from. Try this method out and watch your SERP's, PR & quality backlink count increase greatly. If you've already been doing this...nice job. Keep it up.
This seems like fairly common advise but it is definitely good. Countless good links can be built in this way.
You can also utilize http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ and type in site: www.yourcompetion.com (replacing your competition with the name of the company - obviously), and check results there. You can easily export to a CSV file, and then import the results into Excel. You can find all of the sites, and blogs, et al, that your competition is linked to and start your link building efforts there. Hope that helps!
This is a very common technique. A lot of people do this but really I would only go for the higher PR links they got because if you try to go through all of them you will be wasting your time.
I have tried that. But for a particular niche most incoming links to the competitions are from link swapping. So I wonder if I should follow their ways to do link swapping...
if you use the same links as your competition doesnt that kinda cancel each other out then its up to some other optimization tricks to get ahead?
Good advice. But target traffic can be biring if you only make link with your related niche. Other it's ok
thx for sharing I just checked the backlinks to my site and I'm a bit surprised because the backlink checker I used befor did only show 22 links and this one shows 1,8k
I've use the seopro.com as well it's probably going to be the main backlinking tool I use. Domain pop takes waaaaay too long and has too many problems.
It doesn't cancel each other out, but you get a piece of the link juice that your competitor was getting before so it evens out the playing field.
