How do I know for sure if a link is nofollow or not? I am trying to determine the legitimacy of a bunch of potential backlink donors but I'm not sure if SearchStatus is working correctly with all of them because other sources are claiming a site's links are nofollow while SearchStatus tells me they are dofollow.
Well the seo tool firefox plugin, developed by Aaron Wall highlights no-follow links in red, you can find it here http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html As for other methods of making sure bots don't find your link, such as javascript, using robot.txt, cloaking an so on is difficult, but most won't go to those lengths.
you can simply vew the page source and see the link in question has nofollow attribute added to it or not
The "a href" tag will have rel="nofollow" in it somewhere near the url. Do as sulantofseo suggests and view the source of the page then search for your domain.
Did you even READ the post? What is with all these people saying the exact same thing? What is happening to DP??? terminator69, ditodelacroix, gina.alessia, sigh...
I have SearchStatus installed it is not necessarily very accurate. You are best using this plugin for detecting dofollow / nofollow links: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5687
I have been using this firefox plugin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/321 for checking nofollow links... This tool will automatically highlight those links that have nofollow attribute.
