How to spot a NOFOLLOW link

How do I know for sure if a link is nofollow or not? I am trying to determine the legitimacy of a bunch of potential backlink donors but I'm not sure if SearchStatus is working correctly with all of them because other sources are claiming a site's links are nofollow while SearchStatus tells me they are dofollow.

Well the seo tool firefox plugin, developed by Aaron Wall highlights no-follow links in red, you can find it here

    http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html

As for other methods of making sure bots don't find your link, such as javascript, using robot.txt, cloaking an so on is difficult, but most won't go to those lengths.

The "a href" tag will have rel="nofollow" in it somewhere near the url. Do as sulantofseo suggests and view the source of the page then search for your domain.

I usually just highlight the link and view page source, then look out for rel=nofollow.

Note: Don't waste your time downloading the FF plugin if you're color blind... It wont work.

I have SearchStatus installed it is not necessarily very accurate. You are best using this plugin for detecting dofollow / nofollow links:
