Why doesn't anybody sell a newer computer with Windows XP installed?

I've been looking all over the net for a new, fast computer with Windows XP installed instead of Vista and haven't been that lucky. I know if a computer is built for Vista then it's sure to be really really vista if you downgrade to XP. Anybody have any ideas?

Computers, specifically retailers are not offereing machines with WindowsXP anymore because WindowsXP is becoming less and less supported. In some cases, Windows XP isn't supported at all.

I don't really care too much about support. The XP seems to be operating just fine on my computer. Speed is the main issue to me. I want something with blazing fast speed even if I have all my programs running. 3 or 4 GB of ram and one the new dual core or quad core processors should be exactly what I need.

This is probably because Microsoft has told those retailers not to because they're not supporting it and they also rolling out the new Windows 7.

Oh really? When does that supposed to be coming out? Sounds interesting. I think it's a wise choice on Microsoft's part to come out with a new operating system because Vista already has a bad reputation. I've never even tried using Vista and don't want to due to all the bad comments I've heard about it.

Smaller computer shops still carry XP. You can get a custom computer built at a smaller shop with Windows XP.

I'm not really into custom built computers. The first computer I ever bought was a custom built and it turns out that have the parts the guy installed on it were actually used.

I don't think Microsoft specifically go to tell the retailers, just that they do not sell XP licenses anymore, the retailers won't have much of a choice but to switch to Vista.

Because it looks like its outdated, and many will not pay attention to the comp when selling as it has Windows XP

Well, if Windows 7 comes out anytime soon then won't Windows Vista also be unsupported?

I dint think thats because windows XP is less supported , its because windows Vista in newer with better features and more secure. I have Vista x64 on my PC and it is much more stable than my XP.

instead of looking for a PC with XP, why don't you buy one with Vista and then buy an XP CD and install it yourself. its better that way.

My local computer shop gives all customers a choice between Vista and XP on whatever new PC they buy. XP costs extra, though. They're still selling very few with Vista. People are willing to pay extra for XP (as I will be myself when I buy a new laptop).
