Adsense Code Removes "Ads By Gooooogle"

I was just messing around with my codes and I noticed the ad formats line that shows google_ad_format = "250x250_as"; or which ever number you have.

I didn't know what the _as stand for so I removed it to see what happens.
And I checked the website and the ads/text turned larger and the "advertise here" and "ads by goooogle" text is gone.

I know this is against google's TOS so I switched it back,
But Im wondering what does the "as" stand/used for?

And one more question, usually on my site, I used an ad format that should show 4 links, and it always shows only 2 making it look very off. Any way to make it show 4?

Thanks for the tip on the "as". I didn't think to remove it because I abhor that ads by Gooooogle slogan.

The reason your ad shows 2 links is cause the bot can't find ads to serve to your page per your keywords. you have to play with your keywords (page content) to get good ads served to your page.

    You're confused.

If an AdWords user specifically targets your site (or site category), the ad will say "Advertise here". If it's an ad displayed by AdSense according to your page content but not specified by the advertiser, the ad will say "ads by goooogle".

You can also remove the "Ads by Gooooogle" part on all of your advertisements if you wish by going to your account options. In general, people who remove that see somewhat of an increase in their clicks. It might be coincidence, but it has happened with me as well, so it might be worth doing.

Rather interesting that "Ads by Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooogle" isn't hard coded into their system upon delivery, but is an option that is removable (but against the rules to do so)...Very strange, perhaps there is a Super Duper Premium adsense account status where you can actually not make it look like an ad...at ALL?

    How very interesting.

And you are violating the TOS you agreed to when you got an adsense account.
And subject to either ads being disabled, or even worse;;;;;BANNED!

I would advise you and everyone else, DO NOT CHANGE OR MESS WITH THE CODE!

Of course, there will be someone who will do so even after reading this, and when they get banned by adsense...another darn "I got banned by adsense and I don't know why?" thread.

It would be nice if you could remove it, but it is not allowed. I know that if I removed it then I would get double or even triple my clickthru rate. It is only by having the "Ads by Goooogle" part that drops mine and most probably everybodies clickthru rate.

I don't think so: default it will always say "Ads by Google" and "Advertise here". An AdWords user has no control whatsoever if one or both of these texts is shown on your website.

If you don't want the "Advertise here" text, you can switch it off by logging into your AdSense account:
My Account - Account Settings - Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up

However, the "Ads by Google" text cannot and may not be removed IMHO.

    ;)

Actually, that's not true. Some say "Feedback - Ads by Google" and others say "Advertise on this site", and the image ads don't have the "Ads by Google" on the left side because they have the site URL there.

    More info:

How do keyword-targeted and site-targeted campaigns differ?

Why don't my ads show an 'Advertise on this site' link?

How do I customize my Onsite Advertiser Sign-up page?

Reginald, look at your post count... now look at minstrel's post count. Who do you think is right?

That's actually faulty logic. I know at least one other member here who has about the same number of posts as me and hasn't made any real sense in any of them.

No, I'm not going to name him: He knows who he is.

I agree. Just because you have a higher number of posts than somebody else doesn't mean that you know more about things than what you do with people who have less posts.

The other day I saw a regular looking link on gizmodo . com , which was actually a google adsense link. You really couldn't tell the difference.

They seem to have some TargetedSense javascript there. I know they're premium , but to disguise an ad into a regular link is somewhat rude I think :)

    New forum rules:

Rule #1: when someone has a high post count, he is always right.

Rule #2: in the unlikely event the higher post count person is wrong, rule #1 automatically applies.

    LOL
