I've been on the homepage of Digg twice and Shoutwire twice. At one point, I had a .055% CTR! I think in the end, I made $30 from one story that made the homepage of Digg and Shoutwire through Adsense.

Many of the other links you'll get from being on Digg are of the same quality. Meaning, those visitors won't click on ads either. If you know enough about the web to be reading Digg or any technology news website that posts stories from Digg, chances are good you won't click ads.

You can also kill your CTRs with Digg traffic and as a result, get lower paying ads in the future.

Self-promoting your website on Digg is great at first. But once Digg users and admins catch on, it won't be.

A testament to Digg. I discovered this site through your post after it was picked up by Digg. It's a traffic dynamo.

Yes, but the traffic you get stinks. All they do is visit one or two pages, click no ads, and leave.

I think the only way to make some cash is have CPM ads!!! At $1.00 CPM, I would of made about $30.00 so far per ad. It has generated some new members here. I've got about six DP referrals from this. Now I'm down to about four visitors a minute.

CTR might be bad, but if the digg post results in backlinks, it is worth it.

I will reiterate, lets wait for digg 3.0 and then revise our thoughts of digg. I'm expecting more non-tech crowd to flock to the site.

I've never made front page with digg, but have gotten front page on Shoutwire a few times. I made about $10 over my usual adsense earnings from the 3000 odd visitors by placing adsense ads within the article. Not worth the effort for the $, but I like to use it to help kickstart a new site.

In terms of CTR, it is not worth it. But the possibility of getting backlinks will improve your site rankings.

And anyway, money is not everything, i.e. unless you use adsense as a living.
