thanks for sharing it. i would like to add a bit to it that why these must not be used. the reason is simple - it results in code bloat.

 

It would be more better if you put what those meta tags do.

 

Does anyone actually use those meta tags? I only use description and sometimes keyword tags.

I just use meta description and rest of the metas are useless for me. These will only increase the size of the file. We should not include the things not helpful for us in the code

 

I generally only do description, and sometimes keywords.

A note about the keywords tag. Some smaller search engines are still using them, and it only takes a few minutes to add them. I work (with a team) on SEO for a fortune 500 company, and they mandate keyword tags, not because they don't know better, but because they have around a million pages on their site, so every little bit counts. If each page gets an extra hit a week because of some keyword tags, that's potentially a million more people a week.

So think about scale, it may be worth adding a keywords tag on a larger site.

 

Only Meta Robots Tag are useful. None other that.

 

Meta Robots are not efficient plus google doesn't give any impact on that one.. Check out SEObooks or SEOmoz for those metas that gives impact..

 

I using only description, keywords tags. but is it remaining mata tags are any useful?

I have seen so many things which comes under meta tags . I am using description and keywords on my all blogs . But can anyone tell that which is more good , do we need to use all of them for better rankings .
