hi to everyone. hope iv posted in the correct place. I brought my first site around a month ago and got sort of hooked, but im getting confused about pr links etc.. so if i tell you what i think then hopefully i will be told if thats the correct way to do things. first topic is links, i have a new site so i need links, how many and for how long, i was adviced to get a one high pr link over 5 with reference to my content. or do i get 100,s and not be bothered of content. Next traffic, iv looked at the traffic exchages and i cant see the point people spend hours surfing through ads and not really intrested what they are, so is it best to have low traffic that views my site, and then invest in some advertising which is targeted at my market, or does 10000,s of visitors look good on the rankings. my website is a ebook store. Also i was wondering if cheaply priced products look bad as customers think the productsare rubbish. any advice would be welcomed. thanks darren
What I would do is go to a major search engine. Put in the keyword you are focusing on. Go to the top 10 sites that come back on search results. Do what ever you can and whatever it costs to get a visible link on those sites. Monitor occassionally to see if those are the same top 10 on that keyword a few weeks down the road, if new ones appear target those. Not all can give you a free or paid link (most likely not free). Repeat for every major keyword and major search engines. The method to this madness is that they will get majority of the traffic for those keywords you are competing with. By being seen on those sites gives you instant credibility and leveraging their position on the major engines. Much cheaper and less frustrating than fighting with SEO or any other Algorithm Gimic that keeps surfacing every other month.
What you need for starters is to: 1) Locate button 'Enter' from your keyboard. Then use that. Just a friendly reminder 2) If you think cheap products are bad, then why continue selling them? 3) Do not get into "I need a better PR", that leads your mind & work to wrong track. PR will get higher when you do do good stuff in the web.... 4) Read this thread about getting traffic. There's plenty of ideas on what you could do to get more traffic. Good luck
If you are specifically looking into getting backlinks from directories that are quality, check out this link http://www.strongestlinks.com/directories.php here. Most of them are paid, but consider it an investment worthwhile for the long haul. Building backlinks is a long term process so definitely don't count on it if you need some quick cash.
First thing first you must understand how to market do allot of research on your target market before you do anything else. Learn what they want and were they get it from then advertise there. Iknow this is a lttle vaque but marketing is what we all need to understand first then it all falls into place
Your advice is really good, im in a massive learning curve, but i do enjoy learning new things, things are much clearer now I think iv been reading so much stuff that it can get so confusing.
hi there thanks you for your advice. The ebooks which iv been selling (trying to ) are good books, iv already brought them so all the money i make is 100% profit, thats why i asked the question as the more i sell the more profits i make.
