I was researching some keywords today and checked the backlinks of a PR5 website. I found that the majority of the backlinks were from paid link directories. I have 2 questions. How difficult is it to rank against a site with links in link directories if I'm manually creating backlinks in other blogs and article directories? And are paid link directories worth it? I don't want to pay for it at this time but I'm just curious.
While I'm on the subject of backlinks. Has anyone noticed issues with leaving comments on WP blogs? Seams like the majority of comments I've tried to leave today send me to a blank screen when I click submit.
If you want related backlinks, sheeeet, just create them. There's thousands of free platforms to use and abuse: blogger, wordpress, hubpages, squidoo, and the list goes on... Simple huh?
That's what I'm doing at the moment but my question is how hard is it to compete against a PR5 website with lots of links in link directories? Just trying to figure out if beating a PR5 site in SERPs will be difficult for my key words I'm targeting.
Can't really tell. But if you get related links (and you can produce them) you'll get to a point of authority. As long as content is unique and SE's can't check the free platforms links are yours, you'll be fine. If you do get more related links you will beat them eventually.
